Pass details and pricing 24/ 25- Ikon, Indy, Epic, MCP etc

I'm on the fence if I'll get another EPIC multi-day or not. I DO want to do another Beaver Creek trip but oof, the lodging is getting stratospheric. Also, I only used one of my "free" urban days for a terrible day "slushing" at Wilmot. I still haven't even used all 4 "regular" days yet this season. I'm hoping to do so in 2 weeks in Tahoe but...I'm not enjoying this feeling of "gotta use the pass! gotta use the pass!"

That said...the $405 is already less than 2 days at BC. Hmm...

My sister, non-skiing husband, and maybe my parents, are thinking of a family trip to Bretton Woods next February. From what I can tell they are not on a mega/national pass.

If the trend of my casino company having multiple in-ski-season charter flights to Reno happens again next season, I'd probably just be at Mt. Rose (not on a multipass) those days because it's easy to get to from my Reno hotel, and gosh darn it, I like it!

My favorite "local" place, Cascade, is not on a multipass.

I need to keep noodling on this but I'm leaning toward no pass for 24/25. If I do get anything, it'd be the minimal pass that will get me a few days at Beaver Creek.

I don't know how old you are, but 65-79 can get a midweek ticket for only $42, and if your parents qualify over 80 skis free. I'm not there myself yet, so far I think the best discount I can get for anything is at Savers thrift store where you only need to be 55+

I'm 54, will be 55 next season. Only my dad skis and he's only 77! But he would qualify for the $42 midweek so I'll make sure to use that as a selling point. The bummer is as much as I want to stay in the Omni, I think we'd rather have cooking ability, although I could see my folks driving up w a cooler for sandwich stuff for lunches, at least. I'll post elsewhere about Omni hotels and a special deal I *might* have access to (I'm still waiting on details from the company.)

My travel discounts are usually via AARP (you only have to be 50 to be a member) - I get great rental car deals through them.

@ChrisKi the only ways I've ever found were the phone number and email. The best I can think is to start with the call center, and then ask if there is another number that might be better for the situation you wan to discuss. Good luck.

I've never heard of a ski club partnering with the Ikon Pass. Is BSSC a really big club? My ski club is about 90-100 members. Most of the members will buy the Ikon Pass for access to Mammoth/June & the 3 Big Bear area resorts. We do 3-4 mid-week trips to Mammoth and 1 out-of-state trip annually. The out-of-state picks are almost always Ikon resorts. Big Sky is the pick for 2025.

I know a couple of ski clubs that get IKON discounts buying from the tour operator for instance ski.com. same base or renewal price as on the website but also get a bonus $50 off a group trip you take w/same tour operator.

While I enjoyed checking out Epic resorts in Colorado this season (Vail, BC, Keystone, Breck, mostly Crested Butte), I won't be getting another Epic Local pass next season. Maybe in another year or two. More interested in going back to CB than the other Epic resorts off I-70.

I ended up getting an EPIC 3-day with the CO resorts I wanted included. Considering I still get those three days at my hyper-local sledding hill (Wilmot,) I think it's worth it. Doesn't include Telluride but nbd, bc I wasn't planning on going there next season.
Last year, IIRC, the pricing was set up so to get Park City, Vail, etc, you had to get 4-day or better. This season, any amount of days, you just pay the full fee, lower fee if you only want east coast or mid-Atlantic resorts.

For what it's worth, my notes for 2022-23 and 2023-24 are that the lowest price ended in late May.

The Epic website homepage only mentions April 14 as a deadline for Buddy Passes.

Unlike the MCP and Ikon, I haven't been tracking Epic that carefully. Got Epic Local for this season because of a trip to Crested Butte and sampling Colorado Epic resorts but not likely to get one for next season.

I think I saw that the last day for lowest Ikon prices is on April 18th already.

My Indy Pass deferral finally went through, I got a receipt emailed to me yesterday. With the deferrals processed now I wonder if they'll be going through the waitlist people again.

Looked more carefully at Epic Buddy Passes and Ski With A Friend (SWAF). Early bird buyers get 10 Buddy Passes until April 14. Last season Buddy Passes went away completely by late May.

A Buddy Pass is different from SWAF because the discount is a fixed amount for the entire season. SWAF are "discounted single day lift tickets offering greater savings than the standard advanced lift ticket discount. The discount varies according to the daily rate at each resort." The max number for SWAF is 6.

As an example, here are the discounts for Epic resorts in Colorado and Utah from 2023-24. Hard to say what the discounts will be for 2024-25 or when they will be announced. In general, Buddy Pass discounts for smaller resorts that aren't in Rockies or on the west coast are around 40% and SWAF are mostly around 20% .

I'm trying to decide what pass to start exploring other resorts besides Taos NM. Intermediate and never skied anywhere other than Taos. Looking at southern Colorado. Epic seems like it would be best? Wish more resorts were car camp accessible like Taos.

Which Epic pass are you considering? Depending on how many days you would ski at a Colorado resort, the Keystone Plus or Summit Value might be relevant.

I was at Crested Butte for the first time in March. That has a variety of blues and some easier blacks. The advantage is that CB is smaller overall, so easier to figure out than Breck or Keystone. Staying somewhere in the town of Crested Butte can work since there is good bus service.

Note that the closer a resort is to Denver, the busier it can be.

Skiing at independent mountains such as Wolf Creek or Monarch could be more fun than at destination resorts in Colorado, depending on the time period.

I had on online chat with Epic customer service today. They confirmed that the Buddy passes will not be available after the 14th.
However, the cost of the pass will not increase for an unspecified amount of time.
