Cloudpeak,
Welcome to SkiDiva! Have you had a chance to ski with any divas yet?

I think lisamarie is the only person here with whom I've had the pleasure to ski. We skied together two years ago at ESA in Montana.

I get about 30 days a season for the past 3 years.. I wish it could be more. Hopefully when I move to Utah for next season I can get in a 50 day season!!

I used to average about 10-15 times a season, but then
I stopped to have kids the past couple of years. Now that the kids are a little older, I've started skiing more, but mostly on the weekends. I wish Alyeska (the local resort) had night skiing on weeknights, because I'd be doing that alot more.

Living in the foothills of South Carolina makes it a challenge to get out a lot, but as of February 27th, I have managed 30 days. Yes, folks it's possible in the South if you are crazy enough to ski any shard of ice available in a moments notice. I have even snuck out of town for last minute weekend internet specials and taken redeyes in search of powder. Yes, I do have a job, and even two teenage kids (who are thoroughly indoctrinated into my obsession). During the winter months, I don't cook, clean beyond the basics, shop or even go to church much (which makes me feel a bit guilty). I sleep, work, and hang out with my girls in the evening. Weekends and some weeknights, we ski. I (we) will have made 3 trips out west and 1 to Vermont by season's end. It's been a great year!

I have a spreadsheet of every day I've ever skied, with notes about anything new I learned or did.

I thought it would be cool to look back at down the road though; and have for instance, a note for what was the first time I did this that or the other thing; and for now I can track my progress.

I was shocked when we counted it up and realized that it was only so few days. (17 as of yesterday; 3 my first spring, 8 last year, 6 for this year. Next week I have off and we will add 6 more.) Not as many as I would love; but I'm grateful for every chance I get to keep improving.

The real OCD part? I have formulas built in to keep track of how many places we go, how many times we go there, how many places total, etc; with links to websites & trail maps.

I needed excel practice; and this is more fun than a fake spreadsheet!:D

Me too!!!

I have a little form that I fill out every time I ski, stuck to my dashboard. On it I write the cost of everything (gas, tolls, food, gear, lift tickets, lodging, etc.) At the end of the season I will tabulate just how much this obsession is costing me (gulp!) (Also, I want to know just how many days I really skied, and if there's any way I can save money, I'll be able to figure that out too.)

On another form I also write about what I learned, what I need to work on, frustrations, unanswered questions, triumphs, humiliations, and sudden realizations,. I then transpose those thoughts into a ski notebook. I want to look back on it in a few years and recognize that yes, I have come a long way.

If not for us compulsive organizers and documenters, how would all those laid back mellow people know that they were mellow?

I don't think I could stand to add all the costs up; I'd be scared it would make us feel more guilty about spending the $$than we already do!

That last part - :D I'll remember that next time someone teases me about my need to be organized; I love it!

Do you ski once or twice a year? Once or twice a week? Just wondering how often everyone here gets out on the slopes. I got in 40 days during the '05-'06 season, but I'm hoping to do better this year. What about you?

Just remembering to count is so hard. Tomorrow will be day 43 for me. I'm barrelling towards 50 days full blast.

I only get out about 7 times a season :( part of the problem is I don't have much vacation so weekends are the only time I get out really. Also I don't have a season pass so it gets expensive. We are thinking of getting the pass for 07/08 season and I will have more vacation so I hope to double that at least next year.

Today was day 56 for me. I'm trying to get at least 60 for the year.

not enough

jaki2379 - Ditto for me.

Weekends (usually a Sunday morning ticket in the Poconos, getting on the hill early and skiing up & down so that by the time the crowds arrive the legs are glad to stop) and one ski trip West each year means 10-15 days/year if I'm lucky.

Friday was day 18 for me. I have 5 days in Crested Butte coming up at the end of the month. Since ski season is ending this weekend at most Mid-Atlantic ski areas, I won't get any more local days in unless I go up on Sunday.

I had hoped to get 20 days in this year - and will end up with 23 - so I really can't complain.

Next year I am going to shoot for 30 -35!

It's a little harder for me to count (I mean vote) because I also do cross country. So typically, I would ski downhill Friday and Sunday, but go cross-country on Saturday. (yes, I took a few Friday off) That way I dont' have to deal with the crowd on the day when the liftline are at their longest and slope at their busiest.

This year is a good year for me, even though winter start out late in the northeast. Because I got to work from home in evening on Mondays for about a month. So I got to ski on Monday. There no line at the lift, nobody on the slope and the ticket cost nothing but a song!

If my plane do take off today, I'll have another 6 days in Switzerland. Unfortunately, this delay from yesterday's storm will cost me at least half a day.

And after I come back, I think I'll still be able to squeeze another day or two in before the season is done. After all the grieve this last storm cost me, I'd better get some snow time out of it!

Last year was horrible. I skied 1 day! No, I bought a one day ticket but only ski half of it because the lines were so long it took an hour just to get the ticket! If you have a choice, DON'T EVER go to Mountain Creek (NJ) after a dump, even if it's a weekday. In fact, I don't think I'll EVER ski Mountain Creek any more.

I broke my record!

On Thursday I hit 51 days. My record was 50 days. With 4 weeks left of the ski season I should hit 60 days or more.
