Do you wear makeup when you ski?

I started using this mascara in a big purple tube ... uh ... Covergirl Lash Blast something or other. It's obnoxious looking. But I really like it ... it's water-resistant, but easy to take off with water. The reviews on the CG site are pretty bad, lol ... but it works for me :noidea:

We just got a sephora counter here in Anchorage. How much is the bullet proof I hate ask? I don't wear a lot of makeup but wear some most days now that i am in my 40's.

On the other hand I have a very good friend I play hockey with who is so beautiful she could be a super model. She wears full on makeup even for hockey. She used to cut hair in a fancy salon so I figured it was part of her job to look good all the time though.

Bottom line if it makes you happy then no problem. : ) But no raccoon eyes, will have to get some bullet proof mascara, LOL.

It probably is on this thread way back, but I swear by blinc mascara. It is bullet proof -- creates little tubes when you put it on. Doesn't run, doesn't, bleed, doesn't, smear. Doesn't lengthen much, but it does darken. Comes off with water, a tissue, and gentle pressure. Weird to get used to looking at the tubes in the tissue (at first you think it's your lashes). Available at Sephora.

I've just bought some, so I'll give it a go! I also bought some for my skiing mate for Christmas, makes a nice pressie I thought.

eyelash tinting

So some questions about eyelash tinting, as this seems to be a good option for me: is it safe to get done with contacts in? How does it work? And how do you know if someone has done a good job vs. a bad job? Anyone want to describe this to me, or PM me?

Hi there. I am in Austin, Texas and this is done at a number of salons and skin spas. I have had it done about six times and actually last week. I wear contact lens. The staff should put some type of heavy eye cream under your eyes and then gauze type material. You close your eyes and she then paints your lashes with the color. You keep your eyes closed for about ten minutes and then you can open them. The place I go uses a vegetable based dye. Rarely does she have to rinse my eyes out with saline if dye gets in there. I have very thin and light lashes. I had been getting lash extensions, which I loved but after a year and half I developed an allergy to the adhesive and after horrible red itchy eyes I had to stop. Now, I am back to tinting my lashes dark.
When I ski I wear heavy sunscreen and lots of lip balm. For apres ski I have a MAC lipglass and put a little powder on my face to cut the super shine from all the balm and sunscreen I have applied.

I'm another big fan of blinc. I've also used their liquid eyeliner which is pretty good. The only thing I noticed is that you need to be careful not to put any moisturizer close to where you'd apply the eyeliner or it will flake off. At least it's easier to deal with than having it run and smear.

As a brunette I thankfully don't need to worry about a lot of these things. I do use a tiny bit of concealer and sunscreen of course. I will start my day with some pink lips, but only use balm with high spf on the mountain. I have a friend with light features who recently got her eyebrows tatooed. She had to use brown pencil before and it looks pretty natural in that way.

I just got eyelash extensions and tried on my helmet to see how it looks and I like them very much...will update how it goes after my trip to Vail next week. Ha ha every time I walk past a mirror I have to stop and look at them LOL! :eyebrows:

Ok I hated them after a few days. A few fell out and I could not rub or really wash my eyes. I took them off with baby oil and Vaseline when I got home.....I'm running back to mascara!

I did fall in love with the Burt's Beeswax colored lip balm though.

Idea of eyelash extensions sounds good but I'd probably have same reaction as you, HC. Love! the Burts Bees colored lip balm too, now that I finally found it.

I was really excited when I got them but that got old quick! For me mascara is definitely the way to go but if I have a special occasion maybe I might give them a try again...maybe. I did like how they looked on my co-worker who had some installed while I was away though.

Burts is the bomb! :yahoo:

Love all the beauty tips! Use Laura Mercier tinted spf, Sephora waterproof eyeliner, and Loreal Voluminous waterproof mascara, and sugar lips. Love getting my eyelash dyed too.

I liked what somebody before mentioned about tinted moisturizer and sun block. I bought some Day 25 tinted moisturizer (& sunblock) from vasseur. It has all natural ingredients, I really like it it's like putting on silk and it has a nice light smell too. Lightly tinted.

They included a sample of something called super moist (mositurizing lotion) that has vitamin c in it and it was really heaven and smelled so good I could have eaten it, LOL. It was also pricey though so for now will stick with day 25.

Only if I think I'm going to run into someone "important" and never on a snowy, wet day! Then I wear a tinted moisturizer (over my two layers of moisturizer and layer of sunscreen on sensitive areas that I don't want darker)
I do wear some eyeshadow and start off with some lipstick on. I have discovered that eyeliner runs/ mascara does not, as much. I wear a white gaiter usually and wearing any kind of makeup means I have to wash it!

Will someone please explain "water resistant but it comes off with water" to me? :noidea:
