Do you wear makeup when you ski?

To get blinc off, you have to wet a tissue and apply some pressure to your lashes as if you were trying to "pull" them off. If you just splash water on them, it doesn't smudge or run.

My definition is: Stays on if you get wet unless you rub your eyes, in which case it will all rub off. But it never smears... just literally wipes off in clumps with no pressure if you get it wet. But if you get wet and then let it dry again without touching it, it stays put.

The only "sport" where I've ever had it come off is Bikram yoga - if I'm sweating to death for 90 minutes and then have poses where you rest your face on your towel - they hit the towel and wipe off. Anything else (aside from, say swimming) and you'd be fine.

I generally only wear foundation (bare escentuals) which has SPF 15 built in and makes my skin tone look evened out and otherwise go "make up free"
Any time other than skiing I'm always with a full face on, I just know it won't last well if I do it for a ski day and with goggles on... why bother? I'm just going to shower and put makeup on after anyway...

Gosh, I'm so glad I'm not the only girl who has to wear mascara when she leaves the house! I wear one from Clinique...I can't think of the name and it's rubbed off the tube, but it's very similar to the blinc mascara you girls are talking about. It makes little tubes around my lashes and only comes off after rubbing some face wash on my eyes. Even waterproof-makeup remover doesn't take it off. I also wear Kat Von D liquid eyeliner.

I ski, kayak, run, and mountain climb in this stuff and I've NEVER had a smear. Worth every penny, I'd say!

Okay, we've covered mascara. But what eye liner do you use? I like a soft look and use an Aveda liner. But it is SO soft that it smears when I ski. Any suggestions for something not dark, but water and smear proof?

SkiNana, try a gel eyeliner! Maybelline makes a perfectly decent one, and Bobbi Brown makes an amazing one. Much less harsh than a liquid liner but stays put just as well. :D

I just bought some Sephora tinted moisturizer specifically for skiing and other outdoor activities. I like have a little somethingsomething to even out my skin tone, but sitting on some of the higher lifts in the wind I can just feel my skin cracking off. I'll give it a run tomorrow and let you guys know my verdict!

I do also wear eye shadow and mascara when I ski. Part of it is because I like to feel like I look like a normal human being in the lodge, but a lot of it is also because of the gondolas. It's common for myself and others to take off our goggles in the gondola, and I like to have interesting eyes when the goggles come off.

I was firmly in the "no makeup whilst skiing" camp until reading through this thread. I typically would just put sunscreen (Neutrogena UltraSheer 45) and use a non-tinted lipbalm.

After reading this thread (and starting to feel old and frumpy for whatever reason we women just do sometimes...) I purchased the Blink mascara in dark purple and a trio of Fresh Sugar tinted lip treatments (passion, plum, and honey...they were all out of Rose so I went with variety.)

Last ski day I applied my usual sunscreen, a bit of my bare essentials powder foundation, the Blink mascara, and plum Fresh Sugar. I reapplied the lip balm as necessary throughout the day but didn't bother with the rest. At the end of the day I brushed my hair and pulled it into a pony tail, refreshed my lip balm, traded the ski pants for a simple Athleta skirt (over my base layer) and when I was returning my demos to the ski shop, the guy said "wow...did you even ski today? you look fresh!"

Yeah, so maybe he was hitting on me. Fine by me! I'm now sold on wearing a little makeup on the slopes. Heck...I'm a single girl living in a crazy city, I can use all the help I can get. ;)

Thanks Divas!!

I don't wear any make up skiing but I am old and frumpy. I don't understand women who take hours getting hair and make up perfect for an outdoor sport that nobody can even see your hair or face.:noidea: Plus, when I get off the hill I want to look like I skiied and not sat on a stool all day! Maybe that is why nobody ever hit on me??:bag:

There is a lot in between nothing and hours.... I average about 4 min and 18 sec.

How is the blink mascara in Purple? It sounds great! I have a similar type of mascara by Loreal (double extend) that has a tubes but also has a white layer that you put on first to help thicken the lashes. Does Blink have this or does it thicken/lengthen just fine without it? I love my mascara because it doesn't smudge even if I sleep in it but if it gets wet (from snow, say, or tears), it gets "spiky" for lack of a better word. This look is not pretty so I have avoided it while skiing, just in case. Does the Blink mascara do this?

Wah? Colored mascara?! I haven't seen this since I was in college... does Blink/Blinc? make colors other than purple?

And I'm totally a makeup wearer for skiing. I do my regular everyday makeup routine, which includes: tinted moisturizer w/SPF, concealer, bronzer, mascara. But then I think my everyday makeup routine is pretty minimal and it takes less than 5 minutes anyhow.

I don't wear make up when I'm NOT skiing. So naturally (punt intended:wink:) I don't wear any when skiing. (the only time I put on make-up is parties and interviews)

I still don't quite get the "while skiing" part. After all, I've got goggle covering 2/3 of my face (the most important part: eyes), and a helmet over my hair (something I'm proud of). So who's going to see my mascara even if I bother to put it on?

I'm all for changing into your finest after skiing. And if you'd like to define "after skiing" is in the bathroom when you take off your ski pants, that's fine by me also. I can see if I'm hanging out in the bar at the base lodge, I'd keep something in the bag to put on in the bathroom. I've actually see from time to time others in the ladies room putting on their make-up. I totally feel that's the right time to put them on, not BEFORE skiing.

I keep it pretty minimum. I do have some awesome glittery eye liner I got from Sephora (ok, my 8 y/o little cousin talked me into buying some for her and I went ahead and bought some for myself). I can't wear it to work and still be taken serious. I can't wear it out to the bars and not look like I should be standing on a corner somewhere, but I can wear it skiing!

I didn't know they made purple!

I have Blinc in black and brown.

I'm not seeing purple on Sephora's site for Blinc, but I do see mascara in purple, blue and green by a company called tokidoki that's called Punk Lash Mascara. I think a trip to Sephora is in my near future.
