Winter'17-'18: Where it was good, and where it was not.

Best season for a long time in Scotland! Unusual weather patterns have kept it colder than usual and also brought us drier more powdery snow than we usually see. First time I have managed to ski locally before Christmas in 10 years and given the current cover I think there will still be touring for the keen in June.

As above, the Alps was also amazing. La Plagne looked similar to the photos from Val D'Isere above...

Welcome, @KathrynC ! So happy to have you here. I've only seen the Alps once, in summer, and I was enthralled. I hope to get to ski there some day!

Thanks!

The Alps are awesome. I need to get over to ski on your side of the Atlantic some time. Flight costs make those trips so expensive though :/

Despite the reports, we skied on some pretty nice snow this year in Colorado. Granted, we chose our timing, but I enjoyed wonderful powder/freshies and nicely groomed conditions at Copper, Steamboat and Winter Park.

We are heading out to Winter Park where they received almost 3 feet of new snow this week and more to come this weekend...

It was a great year skiing for me!

Here's the U.S. precipitation map for March 2018. Boston certainly got a lot more snow than usual. Luckily so did the mountains in NY, western MA, VT, NH, and ME. Tahoe, Mammoth, and parts of Utah and Idaho snow above average too. Must have also snowed a lot north of the border in the western Canadian provinces.
