Intolerable Ski Graphics

. . . (how is poop brown a good idea?)
Back when I was riding horses, we used to call the "must have" jods color "baby-puke-green." Honestly, they were the "in" color but they truly were the color described. You absolutely could not persuade a teen to opt for a different color, they were so, so desperate to conform. Being "old" has its advantages.

That's very true, forgot about the teenage conforming years... glad that's long done.

Some graphics that have turned me off - Most of K2's line over the past few years, particularly Disruption series with odd-looking square tips and ugly color combos. Several of the Rossignol Experience series (how is poop brown a good idea?) Anything that looks kind of juvenile or hints at bathroom, sex, or drug jokes.

Yeah I feel same about K2s. Shame... my first boots were K2s.

Haha! I actually like the poop brown experience, especially with the subtle textured top coat. I am also just coming off wild and crazy phase of gear and have gone neutral with green hints or dominance with my full geared look. Still have that Oakley holographic glitter helmet athletes wore last winter Olympics for ***Bling***

Ps. My profile pic is my wilder setup from my snowboarding days. My jacket and pants are usually in same color family now.

I do wish helmets had more interesting decorative art, but doubt manufacturers will take risks anymore.

Skis are such a difficult fit for me as far as finding something in a good length and flex, if I loved the ski I wouldn't give a second thought to the graphics. I've had some skis I didn't love: thinking of my old, brown Volkl Lunas and Dynastar Idylls, or my pink and blue Yumis.
Totally agree. Too short to be picky about graphics:laugh: I did just recently buy a pair of '22 Santa Ana 88s, I am lucky that the Santa Ana line has such pretty top sheets

I'm not too picky about graphics but if I felt offended, then I wouldn't buy it.

While I would say that I do occasionally see graphics that I just couldn't deal with no matter the price or quality... I would LOVE skis with snakes, and... many if not most insects or arachnids, though that depends more on the scene than the critter. There are many styles of graphics that wouldn't appesl to me with them as the subject

But that's... to be expected I guess as someone who grew up with snakes as pets and loves photographing bees and spiders and such.... I think I spent half of my childhood wearing a pink t-shirt with a purple glitter boa constrictor wrapped around the arm and torso until that shirt literally fell apart. I'd so love graphics like that.
Check the skis on the left for the snake. The whole women's line that year had snakes. I think the 2017/18 season. I have a different brand pair with a spider on them also.

I don't mind the snakes or spiders. What I would not consider buying and hate seeing on the slopes are violence, pornography and profanity. If the skis or board wouldn't be appropriate for a kid, it shouldn't be on the slopes or racks. There are better ways to make a point and be unique. (Curmudgeon here -get off my lawn!)

Ok, this is clearly a killing-time-on-a-Tuesday-afternoon-in-October post, but would you ever buy a truly fantabulous ski that had graphics you absolutely hated?
I like the general tone of this original post commentary.
Its both tongue in cheek and serious.

I was just a part of a poll about ski graphics and frankly there were only a few that I really liked, most I'd tolerate and some I would not consider.

My bigger issue is ski graphics that are "meh" and don't really say anything.

What makes a ski graphic offensive for you?
I find that anything that seems gothic or violent would turne me off.
If the ski skied really really well, I may overlook it but it would have to outweigh the offensive graphic to make the sale.

Symbols of hate, violence, porn, genitalia, inappropriate symbols or slogans. I wouldn't buy a ski that has the 'c' word or the 'f' word as part of the graphics, even if it is expressing something like 'f*** cancer'.

Gothic imagery, e.g. skeletons, corpses, and depictions of macabre stuff, etc, might be more off-putting than offensive, but I wouldn't buy a ski with it. No surprise I don't like the horror genre in movies either, but I am exploring my feelings about that.

This is the biggest issue I've run into. Other than my old lotus and Bob Ross fluffy clouds Kenjas, most of my skis' graphics have been boring as hell (ugly brown skis included).

Is this much of an issue with skis? Especially with women's skis, I can't imagine many of these things would make an appearance. But even with men's skis, I can't imagine many manufacturers going this route? But maybe I'm being naive or just haven't run into it before.

Usually the park skis. Not so much women's stuff.

Yes to both of these posts.

I have this sticker on one pair of my skis because I believe in the cause of Tits Deep for Breast Cancer.
I had one person question it, who seemed to be put off by it. With the pink ribbon, its clearly a breast cancer cause.
Would you find this off-putting?

No, I wouldn't find Tits Deep offensive.
I have a car freshener souvenir, "Yeah Bitch" (Breaking Bad reference)--that might be offensive to some.
