where to spring ski?

I am advanced beginner to intermediate. I have only skied in local resorts near Los Angeles and Beaver Creek. I am planning a ski trip in mid March. Where can I find the best conditions that won't break the bank? I was thinking about Tahoe -- but I am not sure what it will be like in Spring. I should warn you -- I am kind of wimpy about carrying skis (don't hate me please... :^) ) I need some place that is either ski in ski out or will allow me to store my skis near the lifts. Thanks!

Around here March isn't really sprint skiing most of the time. In fact it's usually pretty snowy. I love Copper Mountain and the definitely have some nice slopeside accommodations.

I took a mid-March trip to Copper a couple years ago, and it was a good spring pick since it's so high up--the snow stayed cold. (It was not a snowy March that year). And slopeside lodging was affordable compared to other resorts. They also have good terrain for you.

Also fyi, almost every resort has storage near the lifts. I too hate carrying skis. In my experience it's $4-$10/night. If you are on a budget sometimes it makes more sense to save $$$ on non-ski in/out lodging, but pay the extra few bucks for ski storage.

Here's an article about picking a good spring skiing destination:
