Skateboards?

... But I'm hopeful for a good fall and will post pics and/or hospital discharge forms :becky:

lol, no! Part of the reason I am progressing slowly is also my unwillingness to take real phyiscal risk with this. The grandpa at the skatepark today was trying to talk me into a harder line and I was all, "absolutely not. ski season starts in 2 months and I'm actually good at skiing" :rotf:

A few things in case anyone from the general Denver area comes across this thread in the future.

My Instagram is basically just a skateboarding account now and I've met some very nice local women who skate that way:

This guy gives fantastic lessons and runs a very good 30+ women's skateboarding clinic that's been meeting weekly on Saturday mornings around the Denver area, if anyone is interested in that kind of thing:

This group continues to be great!

The ski season has been off to such a slow start that I've been skating a bunch this fall / winter and I am really digging it. Super fun.

Reviving this thread to find the divas that are still skating! I just started skateboarding this year because I moved house and there is a small skate area/skate park under the road bridge, so I thought "why not?".

Of course, I have been there precisely 0 times on my board for the exact same reason regarding feeling intimidated when there is anyone else present, and also because I am VERY much a beginner skater. I did take a lesson to try and overcome my fear of anything that isn't completely flat, and think that perhaps a 7am skatepark trip is in order to test this...

Of course, it's always empty when I'm cycling past or don't have time to get my board...

That looks like a great beginner spot! The bank on the right looks like a really nice spot to just roll around a bit and get comfortable.

Yes - it is all on a very gentle slope (have scoped it out multiple times when cycling past) but am absolutely intimidated when people have set up boxes/ramps through the middle and are confidently blasting their way around. Hence why I think an early morning is in my future.

I haven't skateboarded yet this summer, but I also have a skatepark close by. I've always gone at like 6 am. Guaranteed nobody around.

Following because I am thinking of taking skateboard lessons as part of my mid-life crisis summer of fun! (So far I have taken tap dance lessons, done a wine and paint night, pottery wheel throwing class, and intend to finally get the cartilage piercing I always wanted at age 13...)

Looks very fun. Years ago in California we ran into people that had elecric skate boards. Looked so fun and a great way to cruise boardwalks. I've been wanting to get one.

My hair guy in California in Seal beach was a skate boarder, he's skate board to the shop to meet me. He was a great guy.

I bought a pretty sweet longboard, I made the mistake of following my friend who has very little sense of self preservation, down a small hill and had a full on yard sale. Cracked my helmet and learned a lesson about wearing knee, elbow, and wrist pads. I am now scoping out full flat spots to tool around in.

When I am not crashing its super fun. I should make learning how to stop a priority though
