Ship skis

I have only ever used ShipSkis.com, because they were the first company we tried and we’ve been happy enough not to try any others. Our gear has always arrived when it was supposed to arrive, and always in good condition.

Thank you so much. I plan on using them too. Cannot wait to have them lug them for me

I usually keep a ski box in my garage with packing material and heavy duty rubber bands in case I need to ship. Last time I bought a pair of skis I checked them in as luggage rather than having them shipped as it was cheaper (coast to coast)

Are the ship ski fees lower than baggage fees? I usually fly Southwest and check my skis for free, but some areas require flying another airline.

I have found when flying airlines other than Southwest to fly first class as two pieces baggage fly free. The difference is around $200 but you would be paying that for luggage so why not fly first class? I did this on Delta two years ago and on United for a trip this coming year. Each piece of luggage was $100 so made sense to fly first class.
But to answer your question, I've never used ship skis so don't know the pricing.

Not really lower cost, assuming you don't have a credit card or whatever that makes baggage fees a bit lower on one of the big airlines. The only reason I've considered shipping skis would be to avoid having to deal with a ski bag/hardcase in an airport. Ironically, as I've increased the number of ski trips I've also become stronger so dealing with luggage is less of an issue.

I mostly fly Southwest.

I bought a pair of skis from someone I was visiting on California. Cheaper for me to bring a ski bag and pay the $35 baggage fee than to have her ship them.

Shipskis has become one of my guilty pleasures! Yes, they are efficient but also? Being able to get a real person on the line when the identified dropoff in someplace like Whitefish MT does not seem to be open - having a person on the line who helps with the details is great. We were on a bike trip in September -- Italy and Slovenia - and then had to go to London for a few days for work. I couldn't wrap my head around city clothes etc. in a carry on bag along with 8 days of cycling stuff. Sending a small bag to London made all the difference.
