PSA- when your biking is not going well

Get your bike checked out.

I was having a great season and started losing confidence (to the extent at my last Xterra my run pace was faster than my bike pace!)

I thought my favorite trails were getting rockier.

I was unreasonably afraid of mud.

Turns out I broke a small piece in my headset and my steering was totally dodgy.

I have no idea why I didn't figure it out. My husband hopped on it after trying to fix a problem I was having and asked what heck was wrong with my bike!

Oops.

I've done that. My very first DH bike was getting this squeak in the suspension. Couldn't figure it out, (neither could the people I asked) so I ignored it. Felt a little weird but I figured it was just me.

Finally noticed something that looked off and the spring had shifted or of the groove and I had shaved off a big chunk of the spring and shock. The shop said it was the most destroyed shock they had ever seen.

Oops....

"My very first DH bike"

I have to ask and please don't take this the wrong way because we really don't know each other but I kind of chuckled when I read this. Was it your first DH or your first bike when DH noticed something was awry.

Sorry trying to make a funny sometimes its hard to get across in print when people don't really know each other (easy to interpret the wrong way). Maybe I should have waited to joke like this until maybe after we've met one day

This would be something that would happen to me. I would be all "what the heck is wrong with my bike" and then DH would hop on my bike and go silly girl its just this.

@Moonrocket Glad you got it all worked out

DH bike = downhill bike. (kind of explains the coil shock on the rear as most XC/AM bikes don't have those). Hah, I've been using bike type abbreviations since before I ever saw DH used as a reference to your spouse! So.... not "Dear Husband" related whatsoever. Although he did look at it and didn't see the issue at first either.

Ooooh that DH

Sorry

I hang my head sheepishly
