Ortho in South Denver area

Oy. A friend of mine who decided to try snowboarding before I could get her the skis that a generous Diva is letting her use fell on New Year's Eve on her elbow and it's still painful and won't let her bend or extend fully so I think she needs to go see an ortho. Anyone have a recommendation in the south Denver burbs?

Actually Panorama has a south office now in Littleton. I go to Mitch Seemann at Panorama in Golden. He's starting to do some office hours in Littleton as well, but they may steer her to one of the hand specialists for an elbow injury (which is not necessarily a bad thing). Dr. Brian, their hand guy, has a very good reputation. I'm not sure if he has hours in Littleton or not. Honestly, for a good ortho, I'm willing to drive (case in point, I live in Lowry and drive to Golden for my doctor and to 470 and Bowles for PT). My hand surgeon, who is one of the best, is Dr. Chris Wilson. His office is right next to Lutheran, although they do have a south office as well and I don't know if he has hours there or not. He's fantastic. Hand Specialists, PC. If I had a major hand/lower arm injury in the middle of the night, I would call his answering service before going to the emergency room, he's that good. The bonus of going to him is that if you need therapy, my good friend has her hand therapy practice right there at his office, and she's one of the best hand/elbow therapists I've ever known. They got me through two wrist surgeries, and I highly recommend them!

I should know some more hand guys on that end of town, but it's been a few years since I worked down there and I'm drawing a blank right now. Let me know, though, and I can do some more research (i.e. email my friend, the hand therapist ).

Steadman Hawkins' Denver clinic is in the DTC area (on Belleview) ... I don't think you can go wrong with them. And their hand doc is a woman. (Not that it makes a difference to me, but sometimes people care)

Um, I might have a hard time referring to Steadman Hawkins. They bought my company's competitor's system. They obviously have flawed thinking. ;)

Well, the verdict is in. She went to a walk in last night to at least get it looked at and it's a radial head fracture. They told her to see a hand specialist so I'm sending her to Panorama (hopefully, she needs to check our insurance first). It appears that if it's a minor one she should be back up and running pretty quickly. At least there's no cast involved!

Panorama does all of their payor contracting through Centura Health, so most likely if she is able to visit one of their hospitals (Porter Adventist, Avista Adventist, etc.) she should be good to go with the group. Good luck.

As long as you don't have Kaiser or some other weird insurance, she should be fine. Panorama takes pretty much every insurance plan out there.

Sidenote: Dr. Brian was the guest speaker at my meeting last night...it was interesting, he seems to have a good personality, and knows his stuff, at least what I could tell from a 30 minute talk.
