OK Divas i need your help. Looking to elope..after 6 yrs,, to Lake Tahoe.
My ski dream!!! isn't he grand!! We have coupons for skiing @Northstar or Sierra Nevada. So we are looking to stay at the Hyatt in Incline Village...beautiful and cozy, or we may consider The Cedar House, thanks to reading your promo of the Diva's upcoming trip...(so wish I could go)!! Soo, question is where can we exchange vows. Just the two of us....way simple, would personally love to do it outside somewhere picturesque, but can't picture doing it in my ski garb?? And I can't picture dragging"wedding attire" for something indoors! Help!!! Is there anywhere amazing and simple. I plan to contact the two resorts tomorrow and see what they suggest. I keep reading about wedding planners and such for help, but that seems a little over the top. Thanks in advance for any help!!!:noidea::confused:

I'm afraid I'm in the UK so no help whatsoever!

Your special day sounds like it will be wonderful in the mountains. Good luck with all the planning and the happy day.

Last time I was in Tahoe - over 20 years ago, there were only those "tacky" wedding chapels just inside the Nevada border. Hopefully things are better!!

Good luck!

I think your idea of contacting resorts is a good one, and I wouldn't rule out getting a planner. We planned to elope someplace far from home and were surprised to find different rules and laws that made things difficult--whether it was the waiting period between getting the marriage license and the actual marriage, trying to get an appointment to actually get married to find they were booked when we wanted to come, or the fact that many places require you to supply witnesses. And then there was the ordeal of trying to get married in Europe. We were trying to avoid hassle by eloping! So we ended up at the county courthouse with two witnesses. Good luck!

How about something on a boat in the lake? Certainly would be a beautiful location. No idea how expensive, nor whether you would be limited by season. I thought there was at least one boat that did dinner cruises all year (it may be the second link). Here's some links from a google search (no idea if good/bad idea or good/bad company)

There are also spectacular views from Heavenly looking out at the lake. May be worth contacting them to see if they offer anything.

If you want something indoors, you can go to Commons Beach in Tahoe City - it's a public beach with beautiful views. And it would be free.

And here's some other beaches - https://www.tahoesbest.com/Places/parkbeach.htm

If you want indoors, my brother got married at the Calneva Resort (on the North Lake border of California and Nevada - the state line literally runs though the hotel). It's an old 50's style casino - Frank Sinatra actually owned it for a bit in the 60's.

Hope that helps,
laine
