I finally found a summer sport. I started road-biking last summer, in prep of a 50m charity ride in the fall, the year before I did the 25m but hardly trained and only had a Mt. bike. Last spring I bought a road bike and got up to weekend rides of 35-45miles. Too busy during the week (and the suburban traffic scares me), so I try to fill in with mt biking in nearby woods with DH (short rides) and playing/practicising sports with my kiddos. I was able to bike through October last fall and ski the same month, have only had one weekend off from biking or skiing since August. And all that road biking has made me the best skier ever, at 45yo I am a better skier than I was at 30yo. I should be able to start biking the weekend after I stop skiing in April. Huge difference when I'm fit 12 months a year rather than 6.
