This reminds me of something I've been wondering lately: is everyone now vulnerable to being shot and uploaded on the web? Say you're skiing, minding your own business, a private citizen, and someone photographs or videos you. Can they then upload it for worldwide mockery without your permission? Is this the new reality?

That's an excellent question, and frankly, I have no idea. I do know that no one can use your image for commercial purposes, say to endorse a product, without your permission.

The other side of the coin, however, is that people's pictures appear in magazines, on TV news programs, and in newspapers all the time without their permission (like Brad and Angelina). And unless it's libelous, in which case you'd have to sue, you really have no recourse.

My guess would be that unless you have the financial resources to fight something like that, you're pretty much out of luck.

I think the web right now is like the Wild West -- it's still so new that laws are being established as situations arise.

Any lawyers out there who could enlighten us on this?
