Rather than drag another topic OT, what classes as base and mid layer? One reason I ask is when people use avy beacons, they say strap it over your base layer. Unless it's really warm I generally wear silk thermal vest adlong johns, a fine roll neck, a fleece and then a ski jacket - so which is my base layer?
