Advice On Staying In Silverthorne Or Frisco

ScottishGirlie

Hi!

Just wandering if any of you Colorado girls had any tips on somewhere to stay in Summit County.

I'm planning on arriving on the 12th of April.

I thought Silverthorne might be a better base as there are shops nearby etc. but is way cheaper than staying in Breckenridge etc.

I'll be visiting on my own and using the free buses to get to and from the resorts as I want to visit Breck and A-Basin in particular.

The Luxury Inn in Silverthorne comes out with the best deal on the searches I'm doing.

I just wandered if there were any places to stay that I'm not getting on web searches in the UK that people know of, like B&B places.

RachelV and I stayed at the Luxury last May for the mother's day weekend. Basic accomodations, free internet. There was a pool and hot tub but we didn't have time to use. There are many resturants within walking distance or short cab rides. Breakfast is included, but..... english muffins, muffins, toast, juice, coffee, tea, jams and jellies. Not bangers and mash!!

Basic, clean and comfortable. Not luxury like a Hilton!

Thanx Jilly!

Superb to know someone that has been there. Clean and comfortable is what I'm after. I plan on being out all day ski-ing so I don't need luxury really.

Hi Scottishgirlie,
There are a few cheaper hotels in Summit County. La Quitnta often has some good deals too. I live right down the road from Keystone off Hwy 6 on the way to A-basin. When you get to town you're welcome to contact me. It would be fun to have someone to ski with. It is also possible that you could stay with me. Let's talk.

Hey wahineskis2!

I would absolutely love to meet up with another Diva for some ski-ing!! That would be fab!

I'm still playing with flights and stuff.

I'll keep you posted!

I second the suggestion to look at the Silverthorne La Quinta if you're looking for decent, clean, and easy on the wallet - but I can't speak to the bus situation, so you'd need to look into that.

I am a huge fan of vrbo.com for summit county, also. Especially that late in the season (most places except A-Basin close April 18th, I think), you can probably make owners lower offers and they'll accept if it's a choice between getting someone to rent the place and having it sit empty.

The bus route is accessable from La Quinta. It's a little walk down the hill to the Outlet Mall area.

Here is the Summit Stage schedule link

I've got a car, of course, and I drive everywhere, so I don't mind giving you a lift too.

Hey!

Yup, had been looking at the timetables earlier in the week and decided that it might actually be easier staying in Frisco based on timings. So I'm tossing up between the Snowshoe Motel and Alpine Inn. If I wasn't here for just ski-ing, I would pay a bit more but just don't see the point of paying masses of money when I'm literlly only going to be in the place to sleep!

Would still love to meet up with you and have a ski, would be a blast! Mind you, you might ski the legs off me being a local and all!! :becky:

If there are any other girlies out there that fancy a ski between the 13-18th of April, I'm up for it!!

Now I'm just heading out to get the weekly food shop. When I get back, I'm going to book my flights. Then I can start counting the sleeps!! :yahoo:

Thanks RachelV, a great website!!

For just iccle me, I've got my short list down to the two places above which is mainly down to time as much as anything else as I'm hardly at home at the moment to keep up with e-mails and stuff.

But...you haven't half put a seed in my head!!! My hubby and I stayed in Breckenridge and Aspen for our honeymoon way back in August 1996 and had a great time. We've always wanted to do another summer trip. Some of the condos just look wonderful. Mmmn, time to do some gentle persuasion on hubby I think!!

Darn, a bit late. I was going to recommend the hostel in Breck. :D I think it's a bed and breakfast. Don't know about proximity to restaurants and such but only about $18 a night! :D

I will be around and will be at the Basin on Thursday the 15th! There might be a few other "Divas" as well.

My husband and I stay in Frisco over the weekends - apparently that's Breck's last weekend! If they're still doing lessons, we'll probably be skiing Breck, but maybe we could meet up in Frisco for dinner or something.

That would be really cool if you both have some spare time!
