Figured this thread deserves a bump considering the winter the east coast has been having.
Now time to whine a bit! Had a great start to my skiing season. Went out west for first time and had a great time at Steamboat. Did a lesson and was crushing baby moguls and blacks. Snow was amazing! Kept getting a few inches of new snow each day. Just enough and not too much!
Felt like I made progress and was excited to hit up Killington to finally conquer the infamous Superstar. Killington was one the mountains I first visited as a beginner and I remember having a drink at the umbrella bar looking at people ski Superstar and thinking they were nuts. Finally made it to Killington and it was a spring like day with temperatures in the 40s. Conditions were pretty good and finally did the trail!! Woohoo, was feeling on top of the world!
Cut to next day and temperatures going down to 20s… headed over to Killingtons small mountain neighbor Pico. Everything was going well until I headed to the top of the mountain and did a blue trail. Fairly steep sections of it were completely scraped off. I side slipped the whole way down and these were not short! I wouldn’t have thought much of it, but seemed like 95% of people were cruising down these sections. And there were people doing the blacks up at the top of the mountain all day long!
Part of me knows that with time and practice I will conquer this like I did Superstar, but other part of me can’t imagine figuring this out!
