So is Telemark Skiing Dead?

or in fact maybe @ski diva was just trolling us, knowing how telemarkers get passionate about our choice. If so, score one for @SD! But I am happy to have off season ski conversations.

I don't tele ... but I read all off-season conversations. If I have nothing to contribute, I remain silent, but yes bring on those off season conversations. Technically, we are still skiing in California but for me that means 1 or 2 more trips. Sorry, for the bird walk ... carry on!

To play on Oscar Wilde's words.

That's Mark Twain, actually; he also said "Do the thing you fear most and the death of fear is certain" which I like for MTB motivation.

But not as much as I like William Nealy, who said "I learn by increment and accident and crashing into things twenty-seven times."

My favorite is "Faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death!" by Hunter S Thompson. (I haven't actually read anything of his, but I like the quote and identify with it. Note that it says nothing about the fear of injuring one's knee, which has always loomed larger to me than death.)

Saw some nice tele turns on the mountain today.

Learned to tele 30 years ago and I'm fully in love with it. Unfortunately I don't get out enough anymore to feel as comfortable as I use to. @Robyn can tell you as she scared the crap out of me at Copper. I blew my left shoulder out on teles and ended up have two surgeries. Kept me off of them for a few years. Tried to get out once a week this season. We called it "Terrifying Tele Tuesdays"!

I ski on a pair of Nordica Nemisis with Bomber Bishop Bindings.

Ooops, thanks for the correction! I have nothing to declare except my lack of genius.
