Red Meat & Breast Cancer

Saw this in the news, and thought it was interesting:

Younger women who regularly eat red meat appear to face an increased risk for a common form of breast cancer, according to a large, well-known Harvard study of women's health.

The study of more than 90,000 women found that the more red meat the women consumed in their 20s, 30s and 40s, the greater their risk for developing breast cancer fueled by hormones in the next 12 years. Those who consumed the most red meat had nearly twice the risk of those who ate red meat infrequently.

I read that article too. Who knows whether its red meat in and of itself, or what's in the red meat, ie, artificial growth hormones, antibiotics or other substances leached from the environment.:(
My rule of thumb is to always have red meat with red wine to counteract the bad stuff.:p

Now I like that idea. Red wine and red meat. And I think I agree with you Lynn, just what is in our meat these days. Everything in moderation!

Red wine - YES! No thanks on the red meat, haven't had any since I was 16. I'm a veg-head. Chocolate is my favorite food group.

Hmm, I think you should give organic filet mignon with a nice side of roasted red potatoes with olive oil and rosemary and a veggie-asparagus. Paired with a nice burgundy or cabernet sauvignon.

or maybe tofu mignon?
