Outback rack

I am trying to figure out which bike rack I want for my car. We have been using the truck to haul our bikes around and it costs way too much anymore. I am deciding between a roof mount or a hitch mount rack. I have a Sub Outback, and I swear that I had a hitch on it before I got rear ended and it seems to have dissapeared since it has been fixed.
Does anyone have a hitch on theirs? Is it below the bumper? For some reason I think my old bumper was molded around the old one.
Where does it go? Also, any opinions on roof vs hitch?
