Okemo vs. Stowe in mid-December?

My husband and I were just looking at the 2023/2024 school calendar to plan our trips for next year (crazy how far in advance you have to book some places!), and we realized we have the chance to ski the week before Christmas. We will have Epic passes and live in the northeast, so we are thinking Okemo or Stowe — fully appreciating the NE is super unpredictable that time of year and it all may be a bust. That said, we are trying to hedge our bets … Stowe is further north, but Okemo has better snow making. Realizing it’s a total crapshoot and no one has a crystal ball, any thoughts from ladies who frequent VT about which is more likely to be skiable in mid-December? Thanks!

I would not count on Okemo at all--and Stowe might also be a bust that early in the season. What about Sunday River? further north, and on Epic, and big mountain. Great snowmaking, too!

Maybe Mount Snow? They try to open in November usually don't they? But Stowe and Okemo do too, so not sure that helps.

Sunday River is an IKON resort. The only Epic resorts in New England are Stowe, Okemo, and Mount Snow.

I live not far from Okemo, and I can't think of a year I haven't skied it in mid December. The mountain won't be fully open so there might not be a lot to ski, but I don't think it'd be much different at Stowe.

Re Epic pass in New England- besides the Vermont resorts mentioned, it includes NH rasorts of Sunapee, Attitash, Wildcat, and Crotched. Plus Hunter. The week before Xmas is always chancy, as is Xmas week. But Okemo does an excellent job of managing what they have. Go with the flow and keep your fingers crossed!
