Spent a great morning hiking Mount Cardigan, New Hampshire, today. The view from the top is amazing. Unlike a lot of the mountains in VT/NH, the summit of Cardigan is completely bare; all the trees burned down in a forest fire in 1855. It's solid rock up there, with an actual in-use fire tower. From the top you can see Mount Sunapee and Mount Ascutney to the southwest, Okemo to the west (not sure how far away, but probably 40-50 miles), and the Whites to the northeast. Beautiful.
The weather today felt more like September than August. It was in the 50s when we started, and the wind was blowing like crazy at the top -- must've been 35-40 mph. I think the wind chill brought the temperature into the forties. Here are some pix:

The view from the top, southwest to Ascutney (the bigger peak in the distance, on the right) and Sunapee (to its left). BTW, I'm standing below the fire tower. You can see the support cables in the picture:
Here's the view toward the Whites:
Me (with a stupid expression) and Mr. Ski Diva. You can see how windy it is from the way my air is standing on end. BTW, I'm wearing my TheSkiDiva.com sweatshirt!:
