Another diva out due to knee problems

It seems that knee problems is the common injury among us divas. :injured:

Unfortunately, I did not damage mine while skiing, but in my own home. I stumbled over a paint bucket and landed on my right knee. It turned blue around the knee cap and got very swollen. Close to a week after I went to the doctor and he gave me some medicine to get rid of the swelling, and he said it should be fine after a week and if not I had to call him back. He also specified that I was not allowed to go skiing!!!

It still hurts 3 weeks after the incident on the top side and the right side of the knee cap, and on Sunday I have an appointment with a specialist and getting an MRI scan. Hopefully, I can go back to skiing soon. Already lost nearly a month worth of skiing this season.

It has just been too painful reading about all your good skiing days, so I have stayed away from the forum for a while. But hopefully I will be back skiing again soon, posting my own stories.

Oh, astrdhj, I feel for you. But you'll know more on Sunday. Then life may go back to normal.

And isn't always the way. You did it doing something totally different that skiing.

 Oh no! Not another one!! :faint:
Hope the diagnosis process goes well and that this isn't something that will really interrupt your ski season for the duration.
Bottom line, though: have to get a diagnosis and get it fixed.
Take care of yourself. Please keep us posted.

What a drag! If these things have to happen, why can't they happen in the off season?
Really sorry to hear this. I hope you're back on skis asap.

astrdhj,
I did something similar this summer. While it took a while for the initial injury to heal (6 weeks), all I did in the fall (directly on the knee cap) was severely bruise myself. I couldn't run for more than 2 miles without feeling pain in the knee before the injury healed, but by the time I got in to see the ortho, I had no pain and after a few tests and x-rays, etc., he gave me the all clear. Since then, I ran a 180 mile overnight relay race, 10 miler and 8K. Oh yeah, and skied. Be patient, and I think you'll be back up on skis in time to enjoy your holiday!!

How's it feeling now, astrid? I hope it's healing up well and that you're pain free in time for your holiday.

No work for me at the moment, which means that I could have been skiing a lot. I did try skiing on Monday, and managed to do a few runs before the pain got too bad, and I had to give up. Had problems walking later that night and the day after. I am still awaiting the results from the MR. Hopefully will get them soon.

The bad thing is that I fell and hurt my knee again on Christmas Day. On the positive side the knee is much better than it was. Hopefully I have the same that Pequenita had.

I sooo want to go skiing now. I have new boots and they are great, so I just want to try them out properly.

I got the results from the MRI today. Good news. I can now start skiing again, but have to take it slow in the start since there still is a big risk of it becoming inflamed again. It is irritated and that is 7 weeks after the incident!!! :mad2:

Another good news is that the forecast says snow, snow and snow. It will dump for the rest of the week, so here I come :snow:
