So.....how do you carry yours?

Fish hook in line or in tight places, bazooka if there's at least a 20-foot radius before what in Scouting we called "the blood zone".

On snow I am almost always the "gibber drag" or whatever they said. Otherwise, the local - with the vertical move that others have described.

I never saw anyone do the gibber drag until a few weeks ago at the base of Steamboat, this teenage girl was dragging her skis across the pavement at the base. I'm not one to treat my skis like they're made of porcelain but all I could think was, 'if I were her parents I'd punish the heck out of her for needlessly messing up her skis'. And then I realized I was old. Sigh.

My son is now of an age where if he messes up his gear by being careless, he gets to save up to replace it. I'm not buying replacement gear any more. I'll treat him to something at birthday, Christmas - but no "bailout" purchases.

(But I remember thinking "boy, do I sound like an adult OR WHAT")

I've actually done that too, but only when dragging them across snow. Somehow this became like a comedy routine a few years ago in our group because one guy started doing it and looking like it was all he could do to drag his skis from the lodge to the lift line after lunch (which is like 100' away.)

And it would be "Jibber" drag. (Jibbing = park tricks, that type of thing. This is from watching those kids take their skis off and drag them back up the hill in the backcountry or something to hit a jump again).

I love that video! Hilarious!!!

Local all the way. On snow on occasion I'll use the pimp stick for short distances....

What's the difference between the bazooka and the local? Where the bindings are? Or is one tips forward and the other tails forward? I couldn't pause it fast enough to tell.

Bazooka is shoulder in between the toe and heel piece. Local is tips forward, bindings behind your shoulder. Reverse local is skis backwards to tails in front.

I do some form of local/bazooka. I never pay attention to how exactly they are on my shoulder, just that they are.

Haha, hilarious video! I'm a "fishhook" gal too...though lots of times my hubby is so chivalrous we do "the boyfriend/the girlfriend". A while back I saw a guy carrying the "Oklahoma Suitcase" and did a double take... thought that was very cool and a great way to carry skis on a long haul, especially kids skis.

I have tried the "Oklahoma Suitcase" in the past because it looks so effective. But I guess I have a balancing problem because I can never make it work!

Funny! I do the local, the fish hook in crowds and I also do the jibber drag on or off the snow. The jibber drag is used when you heli-ski. Heli-ski guides won't let you put your skis above your waist. You don't want to get a ski in the rotor blade!!

Ok, then I'm the bazooka, unless it's a short distance (like to the gondola/chair from the ski rack), then it's the pimp stick. I've tried the local but I have problems setting them down that way, but I'm still trying, because it's slightly easier on my arm than the bazooka.

Local most of the time, fish hook in crowds or through buildings, pimp stick when walking up or down the hill to the lifts in my ski boots, and boyfriend or girlfriend when unloading the car with DH, depending on how chivalrous he's being or which one of us is most injured at the time :injured:.
