Question: Montec

Anyone had any experience with this brand. How warm it is? How waterproof, windproof is it? I have my Avalanche suit, but I'm looking for something else. My poor Mountain Wearhouse is showing it's age. Time for something new.

I bought one of the anorak with full side zip. It’s not super warm and I find it difficult to layer under because of how high the shoulder under the armpit sits. I don’t think I would do it again. I wore it one season then found a Strafe brand jacket on eBay nwt for less money than I paid for the montec that I prefer.

Okaaaay @Jilly , I've just heard back and she says they are both warm and waterproof, she bought them in Norway where it was around -20 and has had them for around 6 seasons now so thats a thumbs up from her x

Thanks @AJM . Think I'll check out the sales that are on now first. I'm spending a week in Mont Ste. Anne. So it's going to be cold. The Mountain Wearhouse stuff might be the answer. We're losing our ski shop this month. He's closing up and retiring. No one bought it.

Thats such a shame your local ski shop is closing, I'd be lost if ours ever shut its doors.
Hope you find something x

I have the Doom insulated and so far really like it. I got it last spring and we had some cold days and I found it really warm.

My son wore the sister brand, Dope Snow, last season and loved it. He had shells and layered with down midlayers and capeline baselayers. Montec is a bit less trendy colors and patterns, IMO, and a bit higher price point. Both are similar in wind and water resistance. I do think there are better brands for the money out there in the marketplace.

There is a popular ski YouTuber, Lucas Catania, who always wears Montec. Not sponsored by them but he seems to dig it bc he has multiple kits by them.

This year he DID get a gifted suit from them, and he did another review:
