Hit craigslist over the past couple of weeks and bought boots/skis/bindings for about $350 ... we shall see ...

W00t! Wishing you well in learning. Your knees should appreciate the move to tele, yeah?

Supposedly, but I'm not sure with mine. Lunges aren't the most comfortable thing in the world, regular skiing doesn't bug them that badly, though. But I plan on taping my kneecaps and hopefully this will help build quads, too. Who knows.

I'm impressed. I've done enough learning of a sport this year, can't wait to get back on skis and the familiar. Maybe next year though...

Congrats! Enjoy them!

A friend of mine has an old snowboard and boots that will probably fit me so ... thinking about doing that this season.

Good luck! Sounds like you got a GREAT deal on the equipment. There's definitely a learning curve involved, but....from what I've heard from others, a really fun challenge.

It will amaze you how steep those blue runs really are! Learning tele is a challenge, but it's fun to be a beginner again. I sold all my tele gear last year because of back issues, but I'd love to still be able to switch back and forth.

You will love it, even if you think you don't. There is something about trying something new...I am a part-time tele-skier. Bought gear 2 years ago, had a hard time adjusting my turning at first, but did a women's clinic. Well worth it. Now I pull out the tele-boards when the snow isn't great, the steeps aren't open or I am skiing with intermediate friends. Enjoy! And let us know how it goes!

Congratulations. I love to tele even though I think I am stuck in a rut on my tele turns. I like to do half day down hill and half day tele. I actually learned my first tele turns at Abasin! Have fun. You will be amazed at how difficult those greens and blues become on tele skis!

Yeah, these are a few of the same reasons I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. (at least the gear-buying plunge :p)

I can't wait to be terrified by a blue run....

I was just thinking about you ... do you have any recommendations for an instructor? Did you do privates or a clinic? For the next couple of weeks, Abasin is offering a small discount on their privates, and I think I'll take one of those for my first time, then maybe move onto the clinics.

(If anyone out there is also a never-ever and wants to share a private -- on a weekday, most likely -- PM me ... They don't charge to add people up to 4, I think.)

I received my used tele boots today. The skis are scheduled to arrive on Monday. Then we'll see if I'm up to trying them next weekend when we are going to Ruka :help: Or if my friend has enough patience. With me skiing alpine and her skiing tele we are pretty evenly matched but with me skiing tele... :yardsale: Fortunately for her I'll probably last about 2 hours teleing and then I'm ready to switch to alpine.
