Don't be alarmed. It's not your computer. TheSkiDiva.com has changed its software.
We had to. The version of vbulletin we were using was no longer supported, which made me very nervous. And the recent virus attack added to that. Plus, after more than 5 years, it was time for a change.
I chose the new software because many of its functions are very similar to vbulletin, so learning how to use it shouldn't be hard. I find it very easy to use and quite intuitive. Trust me. You'll get used to it.
A few things you should know:
• I've put together a Users Guide. Please take some time to look it over, since it probably answers a lot of your questions. You can find it here.
• Safari Users: There's a small glitch. Leave the forum too long, and when you return, the screen may be black. DON'T WORRY. This is not a virus. Just refresh the page or scroll up or down, and it'll go away. The people at the sw company know about this. They say it's Safari's problem, I'm not so sure, so it's a standoff. But one that can be easily dealt with.
• User group progressions are now based on a Trophy system. You get points for posting x-many times, and that takes you up the user level ladder, from Diva In Training to Certified Ski Diva to Ski Diva Extraordinaire. You'll get an alert when you receive a trophy. In fact, you'll probably initially get all the trophies you've earned, all at once. Woo hoo.
• You can post status alerts in your profile. Llike FB. This is kind of cool. Take a look.
• Not everyone's signatures imported. Mine didn't. You may have to enter yours again.
• Smilies are located below the post box. Click on smilies and the drawer will open.
• Posting pics is a whole lot easier. Click on "Upload file" below the post box, and you can upload a photo from your computer.
• Read the User's Guide.
There may be some bumps and glitches as we get this thing rolling. I'm new at this, too, so please have patience, pity, and understanding.
In the meantime, if you find things that aren't working properly, or if you have any questions, please let me know. Only not on Monday, Feb 27. After a week of putting this together, I'm going skiing.
