Working the weekend, but plan on going up to Abasin on Tuesday...will be my first turns of the season!:becky:

Considering Sunday River on Sunday. If they get an entire trail open, I may go for it. If it's still a half trail/downloading, not sure it's worth the 3 hours (each way). I am dying to try my new ski boots though...could be a good way to test them, and if I need a boot fitting won't take time out of skiing when the 'real' skiing starts.

Mammoth Mountain starting Sunday. They gave away free lift tickets this morning so it was incredibly busy. We were going to drive up tonight, but seeing the lift lines made us decide to drive up tomorrow and ski Sunday. :fear:

They actually have 3 chairs open and the mountain is skiable from top to bottom. However, I would not consider going off the groomers this early in the season.

I'm thinking I will join Robyn on Sunday!

I would join the two of you, but alas, I'll be running 13.1 miles instead...

To be honest (and I'm a little afraid to post this), I am relieved that I have another 8 weeks or so until ski season starts. Taking time off to ski wreaks such havoc on my work schedule that winter actually becomes pretty pressured for me, and I have a lot going on right now with my kids that has kept me from a pile of professional projects that have been on hold for far too long, so I'm hoping that things settle down so I can make progress at the office before the snow starts to fall here. Add to that our very recent news that DH's job is changing, again, and it looks like more hours are in the works with a new CEO at his employer who is a dictator, so that means more single parenting for me. Yes, the economy has caught up to my family too.

:focus:

So . . . for me, I am totally enjoying living vicariously through you Western Divas who are out there skiing because it brings promise of fun times ahead. Besides, my new helmet is still on backorder and won't be arriving until later this month and I am NOT skiing without a helmet! So have a blast and I can't wait to read your TRs!

I don't know about this weekend but as soon as Sunday River has enough snow to be open mid-week we will be there. Between now and Thanksgiving is the best time of the year for me to free ski. With days where I have seen only one other skiier on the hill all day I am able to take out big skis and open them up with no fear of hurting anyone.

I envy all of you who are skiing! If I'm lucky, Timberline will be open at Thanksgiving when I head down to Portland....

:jealous: drool, drool, drool . . . I think I will try on my ski boots. Maybe it will cheer me up.

Katy and I did a few runs today. I did 4 while she did 3 (she was late, I couldn't resist!). By the last run we both knew we better get the heck out before we got hurt but it was fun to scratch the itch. Then we went to breakfast at Sunshine Cafe. :D

And no, I brought now birthday cake. What can I say, I left the house at 6:45, my only goal was coffee at that point. :p
