I'm sat here in Reno at the moment. 4WD and chains, Gold Ranch to Colfax. So, we have chains, so we 'could' drive up there. BUT. Just because we 'can', doesn't mean its a good idea...

I have my mom with me. She refuses to go up there, as a driver or a passenger... and in the realm of life, this is optional, isn't it?

Be very careful! Heard they got 20 inches overnight!!! And still heavily snowing..

that's the things - there was a window where we could have got up to Squaw, but then what? 4 feet of snow, avalanche danger would be everywhere, and then we have to get out of there on time... and like I said, my mom refuses to go through the pass. She lives in Ventura county, so now thinking going down the 395, and I'll pick up a rental car in Bakersfield, and take myself back up to SFO... which means going through Mammoth - with the MCP...
