Your Favorite Mittens?

Looking for a new pair of mittens and wanted to see what you are all wearing... I prefer a pair with the wristlet strap and made of Primaloft or down for extra warmth. Your suggestions are welcome

I’m on year 5 with the Hestra Wakayama Mitts. They’re amazing…I like the wool liner better than any synthetic insulation I’ve ever used. They feel thin, so the dexterity is better than most mitts, but the warmth is comparable to a much puffier mitten. The wool seems to be great in a wider range of temps than most synthetics and down…plus if your hands get too hot, the wool just wicks the moisture off your hands and they stay warm…unlike most of my other mittens. I really can’t say enough good things about them haha.

I actually have two pairs now because I shrunk the liner by putting it in the dryer (yes…I should have known…it’s wool after all). I keep one with the liner for colder days, and have one with the outer mitt (leather with a light fleece insulation) for really warm days.

I've been wearing some version of the Seirus Magne Mitt™ Heatwave™ Plus ST Ridge for over 10 yrs, and i love them. The original version had a zipper; the newest version uses a magnetic closure to allow you to open the mitten portion and expose the "heatwave" gloves, allowing both dexterity when you need it without freezing your hands, ventilation if your hands get too hot, and a place to put a "hot hands" type hand warmer if your hands get cold. The new magnetic version is a very clever idea: it's easy to open with a small fleece flap that sticks out, and snaps shut by itself -- no messing around with zippers.
Sometimes you can get them for a lot less, too -- I think I got my current ones for around $60 two yrs ago.

I have been very happy with my mittens from Free the Powder. I mostly wear the gloves and pull out the mittens on the coldest days (Maine, we have cold days.) Good quality and after two 100+ day seasons they look nearly new.
These are what I wear. Superior warmth over Hestra Heli by a lot, and fantastic quality at a very reasonable price (especially if you buy them in the spring!)

Im into my second year with FlyLow SuperMitts. They may have updated the name. They were my first departure from down to synthetic insulation in 35 years and so far so good. I got unisex Sm and Med on sale, because I wasn’t sure about size. I chose the Med because I like air around fingers for insulation. Gave my lucky daughter the Smalls. She has smaller hands and feet. She loves them and has abandoned chemical hand warmers. They are gauntlet style, avoids cold wrists… which can really make you feel cold, like a cold neck.

I've been very happy with my Burton GoreTex mitts with leather palms and a zippered Hottie pocket on the back of each. I like the liners that came with them. If one chemical warmer is not enough, I can stick a second one in each mitt behind the liners.

There's a 'windshield wiper' on one thumb and a nose wiping pad on the other. Perfect.

Free the powder going strong here into 4 (5?) seasons as well. Check the sale page for even bigger deals if they have your size on closeout or seconds.

Another vote for Free the Powder! Have had mine 2+ seasons now and they are going strong. I throw a handwarmer packet in for the coldest days, and I wear thin glove liners that I keep on when I use my phone, adjust things, etc.

I also had the BD Mercury mitts and they had weirdly small and tight cuffs/wrists. I have really small wrists for my hand size anyway so it was just kind of odd.

I tried on some Hestras in a ski store recently and they were nice but the leather felt thinner, and they were twice as much $ as I paid for the FTP mitts.

My favorite are the Leki XPlore S. I have the trigger system poles, but I find myself wearing these even when I’m not skiing because they’re my warmest mitts. I love the leashes and gauntlet style.

I hate mitts. They seems to twirl around on me and are just uncomfortable. But...I do own a pair Swany down mitts. I can't wear them. They are TOO HOT. Picked them up at Costco.

I picked up the electric gloves from Costco a few years ago. They are made by Karbon. Karbon is a Canadian ski clothing company. Good quality, fair price.

Also, another source for mitts is the snowmobile industry. Since you're in Quebec, check out https://latulippe.com/en/ or L'equiper (Marks in Ontario).

Not sure I would call them favorites but I have used Gordini Fallline goretex mittens the last 3 years with a thin liner so when I need to get something my fingers don’t freeze. I have been happy with them and my fingers are warm on days at 10 deg F and were dry and warm this week when 45 deg and raining.

I'm pleased with my current Dakine mittens, but no matter what I always end up with cold thumbs.

Since I have time to spare....(2 more weeks!!) I did some searching for these POW mitts here in Canada. Not seeing them anywhere.

Swany, Auclair, Columbia, Hestra and a few other obscure ones, but no POW.
