Worst ski outfits

I don't mean to dis anyone's style -- and the important thing, after all, is the skiing -- but there are certain ski outfits I just don't understand.

1) One piece ski suits: I mean, isn't making a pit stop sorta inconvenient?

2) Long, long mid-calf coats: Don't they interfere with your legs?

3) Furs: Aside from being politically incorrect, isn't there a time and place?

4) White jackets: Is that you or the snow up ahead?

5) Skiing with your hood up: Doesn't that interfere with peripheral vision?

6) No hat: Makes me cold just to see it (especially when it's bald men). But I guess that's just me.

Anyone have any additions? :D

Mad Bomber hats.

Not that I have anything against 'em. But I used to know a guy who had one, and every time he wore it—no matter how cold it wasy—he ended the day in a puddle of sweat.

I actually love those mad bomber hats! Think they're pretty cool. But it's no substitute for a helmet.

How about people who ski in blue jeans? Aren't they cold? And wet?

I know what you mean about white jackets. Some of them look so pretty in the store, that I've been tempted, but they'd just disappear against the snow.

The oddest thing I've seen lately is low rise pants on snowboarders, exposing bare backside skin when they bend down. It's like 25 degrees. ?

LOL funny topic...
I do own a full suit and it works great in some conditions (NOT in the potty). I'm an aggresive skier and often end up falling onto my back, going upside- down down the mtn. You can picture why I like that suit. I typically only wear it when there is a lot of powder.

No hat? I always wonder how those women without hats brush their hair after a day of skiing. I wear a hat and my hair is like a rats nest by the end of the day!

What about the flourescent colors? even with goggles my eyes hurt looking at them!

Ah yes, and the low rider outfits. It's snowing, cold and wet - who wants exposed skin? DUH Are you really going to pick up a guy on the slope? You're supposed to be skiing!

I saw a guy in a one-piece day-glo orange outfit at Copper last spring. He definitely stood out on the slopes!

I had a one piece, black outfit with geometric shapes on the back in flourescent colors (hot pink, lime green, etc.) It was a hand me down from one of my sisters. It was my first real skiing outfit and at the time I though it was great. That lasted about 2 seasons. I actualllly gave it away last summer. I kinda wish I'd hung on to it just for nostalgia purposes.

I think wearing low cut pants on the slopes is just asking for snow in places you don't want it. I might wear my jeans on my hips - but my ski pants are firmly at my waist!

SkiDiva - I will never forget the woman I saw once on the bunny slope at Hunter in NY. She had a full length fur coat, white rear-entry boots, no hat, no gloves and 3-inch long false finger nails. She was slidding down the bunny slope, knobbed-kneed, in a wedge . . . screaming in a heavy New York accent . . "Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Oh, my God I'm gonna kill you Ant-ny!"

One of the funniest things I have ever seen on the slope! Just thinking about it makes me laugh all over again.

That...is....hysterical.

And you described it so well that I can picture it myself!

Thanks for sharing a great image.

Anyone have any additions to this? I hate to see a good thread die.

I'm hoping I have one of the worst outfits on the slopes next season during the races. Just found a spandex race suit --- OLD and used, for $3.00. Just what I've been looking for -- orange/pink/green/red geometric shapes on what may be a tan ground - it's really hard to describe. Suffice it to say it's retro. I'll wear it if and only if I regularly get times that are equal to others who wear spandex suits. Can't wait!!!

Well, just to keep the thread alive, I just LOVE the camo and other hunting gear that I used to see a lot of in Indiana.

Though actually, fluoro rompers are back back back this season!

I was really hoping to find a super fluorescent spandex suit to race in, just for that reason, but mine is just short of glowing -- more like a "mod" scarf. Still -- I think it "says" something special all its own.

Coming out of lurkdom to say, actually, yes. At Ski Liberty last year, I was passed by a bunch of snowboarders with their pants down around their ankles.

You could say they'd hit a new low. ;)
