Women's only demo day

Posse Mama

My local shop hosts women's only demo days. It requires pre-reg, link below. I have gone for years, great goodie bags, lunch is served, limited numbers. This year multiple manufacturers are scheduled. If you are local-ish it has always been a great event. Price includes meal and lift ticket.

Thanks for posting! I just registered. I have boot fitting appt to begin next week and skis were on my radar but wasn’t sure how to try before I buy. This sounds like a good option to try different styles! See you there!

Great. You are welcome to join our table. On occasion we bend the rules and ski with a buddy who has the same sole length. I will send you a message with my contact info.

I may need you to explain that as I have never done a demo day before. I think I understand the principle but the actual mechanics of it all remain a mystery!!

During registration you will complete a release that includes age, hgt/weight and BSL(boot sole length). This is not the size of your boot but the footprint for the bindings. The BSL is usually printed on the outer edge of your boot, near the sole. They usually do some sort of intro while we boot up, have coffee/bagels, etc. Later lunch is served, buffet style and there are give aways. Previously we have been in the Grill, right off the cafeteria. Your lift tix is good until closing. I keep a list of what I tried, what I want to try based on the attending sponsors and Jilly's link is a gem.

This might be a start, go here
Thanks Jilly! Some terms I could apply on the rentals I have had in the past and things I know I don’t want much of in a ski e.g. chatter esp for mid East Coast skiing which is where I normally ski.
Ski buying seems such an art from what I read on the forum and I am a STEM person who was (still is) sooooo bad at art activity. Gah, no rental ski has felt awesome to me but they have been ‘good enough’ and hoping that when I demo, I’ll be able to get something that will feel better than ‘good enough’. ( I also know might take me more than a single demo experience to do it too!)

I've found it useful at demo days to take a picture before/after trying a pair of skis.
Thanks for this tip! I rented an upgrade last year at Winter Park which I knew was Rossi but I could not ID the model easily from ski images online this year when I was trying to remember. I’ll take photos of the ones I try and if I liked it or not.

Ahhh, thanks for the extra description, Posse mama. Now I see the positives of sharing a demo ski if the same sole length! I’ll have to build a list of some things I want to try.

I attended last year and it was great. Have a scheduling conflict and cannot attend this year..:(

This is such a great idea. And within day-trip distance for me! I don't think I can swing it with work this year but if they do this every year I am absolutely putting this on my calendar to check for next January and see about going.
