Women's Day at Whitetail (Feb 16th)

I am so happy I attended this Clinic. Just meeting other ladies who love to ski was the best. The energy and overall camaraderie amongst us was awesome. It was so refreshing because typically I ski with my hubby and a friend of ours who is a male. Its great skiing with them, but I always feel a bit pressured to keep up and not let them show me up! :p But skiing with women is so much different and so much Fun!

But the day started with Registration and greetings, then a 15 minute pilates warm up (which I can tell you my abs are still sore :p ) Then they had you choose a morning group you wanted to be in:

--Beginner Skiing (have never skied before)
--All Mountain Tour (from doing technique exercises on the greenest of greens to smoothing out the roughest Diamond)
--Mogul skiing
--Learning to snowboard
--Facing your fears (could be anything, from steeps to skiers/riding whizzing by you at fast speeds)

I went ahead and took the All Mountain Tour, because I wanted to learn some new tricks plus smooth out those diamonds. But it ended up sorta rolling into Facing your fears too. Since my injury skiing in Dec dislocating my shoulder, I ve been a lil gun-shy on the slopes. Ntm lost a bit of my confidence. Our instructor, Ginny was awesomely wonderful, patient and had the best sense of humor! As I said, our group; we all just got along wonderful and all helped each other out. Truly a woman thing! ;) Plus we have all been keeping in touch via email to get together to ski when our schedules permit. What is funny we had a chance to change groups at Lunch but we all decided to stay together with our instructor. So she took us to the blacks and yes a double diamond too! :D It was amazing how far each woman made excellent improvements in just a few hours.

I would advise any woman skier to take a womens clinic, it doesnt matter if you are an Advanced or Newbie, there is something to always gain from the clinic. I am all up for the next womens day which won't be till next year at Whitetail.

Good times it truly was!

Sounds great!

Were you and the other ladies in your group the same ability? Looking at the group breakdown, I feel like I wouldn't really know which to sign up for. Instinctively I think All Mountain, but then I think that I'd probably get smoked :o Were there multiple groups within each category, split by ability?

Sorry for too many questions, considering I don't live in the area for that clinic anyway... I'm just overly inquisitive

Ya know, there were different levels, but all of us wanted to ski better. We were not broke down into sub groups as you asked and no you would NOT have gotten smoked ;) There was six of us in the group. For example, my biggest no no is rushing my turns instead of doing Carved arches completely :p Ntm, I stayed last in Group so I could keep my speed down. Me and my skis like to go fast so it was a good exercise to control speed and work on taking my time thru turns. Yes, the steeps could be intimating but our instructor took us thru them, even stoppin midway. That is why it was all levels. Now I did nt do the bump clinic, but I am sure the more Advanced were in that clinic. But skiing with Ladies was inspiring and we all there to help when someone fell or felt a bit nervous.

If you have a womens clinic your way, I highly advise taking it. It is well worth the money and time.
