Women share stories of midlife reinvention

I found this article in the Wall Street Journal particularly inspiring. It's about women who reinvented themselves in their 50's, and I can definitely relate. I left a career in advertising and started TheSkiDiva when I was 51, and it changed my life. If you think the path you're on is the one you'll have to travel forever, think again. You CAN make changes; it just takes a bit of courage, desire, and work. These women attest to that.

WSJ links are always an issue for me because I'm not a subscriber. Does anyone have a workaround they can share? TYIA.

I don’t subscribe, but somehow I can see the piece. Sometimes it matters how many times you view a particular source before you get blocked. Who knows.

Timely article for me.

I have been at my law firm for 18 years. It has been a great career and has given me many opportunities. I have a 2 month sabbatical next year and its time for some soul searching.

I've found, too, that the angst and self-consciousness of youth have fallen away, which is a tremendous relief. Yet I most closely identified with the contributor who pointed out that the women mentioned here are all relatively well-off, or at least secure, financially. A different selection of contributors might reveal women who, like me, upended their careers to care for elderly parents and find themselves slowly struggling to recover from the financial devastation of that choice, a choice made disproportionately by women rather than men.

I changed career paths 3 times so far one wasnt by choice. But still, I think it needed to happen because I learned alot in that very short time frame. I just let life happen and it seems like things happen for a reason
