To finish off what happened at Wolf Creek in terms of snow during early season, the situation went from far below average to above average after the late Dec storm. The history is a little off though because the storm total for Dec. 14-16 was 14 inches (data for Dec. 14 is missing).

The storm cycle is ending today, Jan. 1. It lasted nine days in Colorado. From the Open Snow Daily Snow for Colorado on 1/1/2022: "In other areas, Wolf Creek went over 100 inches for the cycle, Crested Butte hit about 99 inches during the last nine days, and in general, total snowfall across Colorado during the last nine days ranged from 3 feet to 10 feet."

Even though my next trip is to Taos, still paying some attention to Wolf Creek. Looks lie more snow coming in early February. WCSA clearly gets more snow from some storms than TSV.

Snow is still falling here! I did not ski today or yesterday due to the very low visibility. Not being able to see where I am going will keep me away from the slopes, despite all that beautiful new snow. I will be heading up tomorrow and Friday however as the conditions will be favorable. I did ski on Monday expecting a President's Day crowd, but apparently these folks all left town on Sunday, and runs were pretty darn empty. And that is always a good thing!!

After a dry spell in February, Wolf Creek started adding to the base depth in the last few weeks. Someone from NY managed to chase the powder at WCSA in late Feb. He and his ski buddy were happy with 51 inches in three days. It was his first time at WCSA. Met a couple locals on Day 2 who took them around to the good stuff that's a bit tricky to find in low visibility if you don't know the mountain.

My ski buddy Bill went back to Wolf Creek with a friend from ABQ recently. They were there in between storms so got to ski fresh powder under blue skies. Pretty nice conditions for the annual St. Paddy's Day fun.
