Like the rest of Colorado, hasn't been snowing at Wolf Creek for weeks. But today looking at the webcam is different . . . it's the start of a multi-day snow cycle!

If all goes according to plan, I'll be skiing a bit at WCSA again in late February.

Barb and I will be there Thursday and Friday before Taos. Staying at the loge for 2 nights. I really liked wolf creek last year so trying to ski it 2 days vs one this year. We shall see how quickly we can get down there

Did you get a room at the LOGE with lift tickets? I noticed that was an option this season. Not important to me since I have a Wolf Creek senior season value pass.

My instructor, Eric Bloom, said today that even with low coverage WCSA has been skiing well. Of course, he's excited that it started snowing. :snow:

I paid for the rooms via American Airlines to gain points, so wasn’t aware of adding lift tickets in July/August when I booked. I think barb has their senior discount, so I just pay lift ticket rates. Maybe I’ll ask around for a discount once we are there. But good to know for next year

You can get a 2-day lift ticket for essentially the same price as two 1-day tickets. Only advantage is not having to buy twice.

When my crew and I are at WCSA in December, we don't bother buying tickets online. Since we like to arrive early to get good parking spots, never a long line at the ticket window.

There is an oddball difference between buying at a ticket window vs online. Online purchases mean getting the RFID card from a machine. Those cards are re-loadable. The day ticket RFID cards given out at a ticket window are not re-loadable.

Yes, we did it last year, so it will determine what we have to do Thursday morning. I fly into Denver Wednesday afternoon. We will need to grocery shop, and run some errands, then head down. Just not sure of our sequence of events yet.

Wolf Creek is about to get dumped on! Adding up the low end of the forecast for Feb. 16-20 comes up with a total of 30 inches. Looks like more expected around Feb. 24. :snow:

Oh boy! Maybe I need to bring my powder skis!!
If you want to rent powder skis at WCSA, they have a pretty good selection. Didn't ask about lengths available though.

Given my travel plan, I could rent in South Fork for at least one day. Hopefully the snow will be so fluffy that it won't matter. I've skied knee deep fluffy powder at Grand Targhee using my mid-80s all-mountain skis. Have been lucky often enough in the last 5-6 years to have gained enough mileage to be more confident when the snow is that deep.

I think it's going to be pretty busy at Wolf Creek this Saturday, Feb. 21. Will be a Saturday powder day during a low snow season.

There is a warning on the WCSA website about possible lift closures due to high winds. Presumably that applies to today and tomorrow. There are people storm chasing today. Raven and Treasure are running for sure as of 2:30pm MT. Quite a few vehicles in the 4x4 lot.

Lots of colors on the WCSA homepage note today. 12 inches from the storm so far and plenty more expected. :snow:

Looking great for late February. There will be fresh snow but not so much that I'll need to worry about driving up the mountain road to WCSA. Will have AWD, but no way to get snow tires on a rental from Albuquerque.

I hope they have more snow than what was present at Breckenridge several weeks ago. I’m going to need to get my skis tuned because of all the rocks that I hit on the slopes.

Oh yeah, lots more snow than anywhere along I-70. Have you skied at Wolf Creek before?

Here's the snow summary from today's email update:
