^^^ Is that snow in motion or is it my eyes? Is it sliding off your roof in this pic? Although the sun feels warmer (when it's out), the temps are still plenty nippy up here in western Maine, and it was windy today as well. 5" of fresh at Sugarloaf, and DH reports full-on winter skiing conditions for today. Semi-wet, semi-heavy snow at Sunday River from Friday is reported to have "dried out" from colder temps. No doubt about it, still winter here, too!

It's snow that's piled up from the deck below, as well as snow that's slid down from the roof above to join it. It's not moving. Been that way for months now. Kind of impressive, don't you think?

Totally! It will be quite awhile before any of the massive piles in New England start to seriously diminish. Let's just hope it happens s - l - o - w - l - y and gradually, without a ton of rain, or we might be in for a repeat of last spring, with all that serious flooding (mostly in south and central NH, as I recall). 100 year flood there.

OMG! Ski Diva, that's an impressive pile of snow! I remember skiing up to Skinner Hut in Colorado and not being able to find the hut...because it was buried! We finally found a tunnel to the door. We skied off the roof for kicks....can you do that at your house?:becky:

No such thing here in snow-less PA. It's been a few years since we've had a bunch of snow. All I see here is brown grass and brown fields:Cry:

So I am living vicariously through you and MSL. Took a nap today and dreamed of snow. Sad, huh?

Let's hope you guys DO have a long, gentle thaw created by sunny days and not rain.

So cold and windy yesterday at Sugarloaf (with 5" fresh) that 2 chairlifts had to close for wind. Ditto Sunday River, just one over there. Mid-winter conditions. Today looks positively divine: 35 and sunny! In about a week, things will start to soften at Sunday River (the sun ALWAYS wins), but it will take at least 2 more weeks for same conditions to hit Sugarloaf. Usually "corn" season isn't until mid-April (and then it quite rapidly progresses to "mush").

I think I would have crawled thru the window and dug a tunnel thru to the outside LOL That just looks like it would be so much fun!

that and I'd get tired of not seeing out the window.

Winter is still here in Seattle, too, of all places. Snow in the lowlands is rare enough, but at the end of March is unheard of. I skied today in beautiful soft fresh snow. Real snow, not the usual Cascade Cement or spring slush. More than made up for last night, which involved me lying on my side in 2 inches of slush for 20 minutes trying to put tire chains on the ambulance...
