Wii

Hi,

This is my first thread in the "MD" part of Ski Diva. I bought a Nintendo Wii today. I want to get the Wii balance board and the Winter sports game and try skiing/snowboarding. Has anyone tried it? What do you think?

I am not a serious gamer - I play a few things here and there on my computer (currently have an old version of a snowboarding game that I play for 5 mins at a time every once in a while). But some of my friends got Wiis, and then I tried one a couple of week ago and thought it could be a very social, as well as fun, game.

I have the wiiski game, and want to get a cordless nunchuck instead of the corded ones that DH bought. (daughter says, how the heck do you wack yourself with the cable? Well, I DO! and she hasn't tried it yet.) The kids got us some extra nunchucks for Christmas, and we want to take them back to get some other extras instead since we have only opened one of the two that were bundled with our system so far -- no receipts of course, which could make that a huge bother. And then, to go with that, we've putzed around on this...

The balance board comes with a ski game, and last night DH and the kids were playing with that. I'm pretty sure it's as close to jumping as I'm going to get, and if I ever master the slalom course....

All in all, the Wii system is fun, though I'm not terribly keen on the music that's packed in the Guitar Hero system!

Where have you seen the balance board packaged with a ski game? I thought you could only but it as the Wii Fit package...

We have WeSki but not the board. I'd like to get it but so far, I haven't justified the cost for just one game.

Sev, the basic disk that comes with the balance board has a ski game on it along with the rest of the cool stuff that's on the "basic" disk. It's not that the board is bundled with a skiing game...

We have the board, WeSki, Shaun White's Powder (snowboarding) and the disc that came with the board. All are pretty decent games. My kids are upstairs right now playing WeSki. ;)

That balance board is intriguing!

I haven't played with it nearly enough, but spent some time with it this evening, after the grand kids left. Just the disk that came with the balance board -- It's fun to do ski jumping, and the slalom course is plenty challening.

It's interesting how funny "balanced" feels, and how hard it is to achieve and maintain!
