Why my husband ROCKS

So I had my last class of summer semester last night, and when I got home there was a long skinny object on the living room floor all wrapped up. My husband said, "I got ya a little something in honor of finishing your first year of grad school."

I opened it up, and I'm happy to say I am now a proud owner of my own pair of Spatulas!!!:love::love:

He said he's been looking ever since the end of last ski season and he finally found a good-priced used pair from guy in town. I've never had a mid-summer ski purchase like this, and it's weird to be excited for snow in July!

What a guy.

Congrats on getting through the first year. Isn't grad school fun when you're working full time? :D I'm flashing back people in my classes who didn't work at all and were taking the same courseload as those of us who did work, and how they'd complain about how busy school kept them.

Enjoy the lighter schedule, and enjoy your midsummer ski fantasies!

Your husband is definitely diva approved.

Congrats on both accounts---school and the booty both.

I'm showing my age (or ignorance) here......but what are spatulas? Is DH so jonesing some home cookin' he went to SPOONS N SPICE and got you some utensils for some home cookin'? Or do they have something to do with..........skiing?

just checking.

Dang, my photobucket account is having a hard time, so I just stole this pic from TGR. My skis look identical other than the TGR sticker. :D

My husband sent me this great article that Shane McConkey wrote (he was the one who designed these beasts) about how different the Spatulas ski. Take it as an "owners manual", I guess. All I know is reading it made me all hot and bothered. :yahoo:

I have heard about these in my research, never seen a pair (they look a little wierd when it's not what you're used to!), and I would love to demo a pair. i wonder if they ski really differently with the reverse camber?

I hope you have a lot of fun on those, and so nice to think of the one you love all the time that you are whooping down the hill! Smart man .....

What a great guy!
I think you're going to love them. I really like the praxis which is based on that design.

Sweet!

Now just count down the days till ski season starts.

Unless, he plans on throwing in a trip to Chile.

They do ski very differently. It's not that hard to adapt to in powder, but they're a little crazy in hardpacked snow. (Basically, they do the opposite of what you expect them to do).

But they're so easy and fun and turn on a dime in soft snow.
