And where? Let us know so those of us who aren't can drool.

Just drove by there and the mountain looks like it has a tiny cap of snow on the very tippy top (my hubby called it a "mountain mohawk!"). They have their work cut out for them if they're going to open Wednesday!

Does anyone on the Eastern side of the US have snow? I don't think so, if they do, not very much!

We're off to Georgia to deliver an antique table, 6 chairs and a matching buffet to Jeff's sister ....who won't even be home! No Thanksgiving for us, but it will be fun to poke around and travel for 5 days.

Road Trip!!

We only wish

The resorts here say they'll be open for Thanksgiving, but it's not looking promising.

I'm not holding my breath. It'll be the first Thanksgiving weekend we haven't skied in a very long time. :(

Killington says they're going to open 8AM Turkey Day. They must be blasting snow like crazy!

Today things have changed.
Caberfae peaks

The current 7 day forecast is calling for highs in the 40's and lows in the low 30's. With these conditions, we will be unable to get our resort open for Thanksgiving weekend. However, a wise man once said: "One thing about the weather, it always changes." And, there appears to be some cold weather that may be arriving the week after the holiday. So please keep thinking cold and snowy thoughts.

Crystal Mountain:
We fired up the snow guns at 1:15am this morning which gave the base of the mountain a light blanket of snow.

With warmer temperatures arriving for Thanksgiving we will open for skiing as soon as weather permits. Once we get the cold temps and can make snow at least several nights in row (round the clock would be even better!), it doesn't take long for us to open up at least some of our slopes.

Think cold, wintry thoughts. We will update this site whenever we have new information to share, so be sure to check back often.

I was hoping to go down to Windham on Turkey Day but it doesn't look like good. The website says Thanksgiving weekend and they kinda have to open because it's the Ullr Festival Weekend. Looks like a fun event I'm gonna try to go down for it on Saturday. I have a few extra tickets if anyone is interested.

Sunday River just opened today, 2pm .... SURPRISE!!!!!!!

After Wildcat scooped out Killington last year on Halloween weekend, opening one day ahead of the Kill monster, I guess it's now going to be a race every year to see who can muster enough home-made to get the slopes open first. Fancy that -- opening without any fan-fare, in the dark, so to speak, so as not to alert the sleeping giant, just to beat Killington. Hooray for Sunday River!

I'll be spending time with family. Skiing here on Thanksgiving is rare, although it has happened several times in the past.

My employer has decided to give all the staff a day off with pay early in December to "shop" and get ready for the holidays. This diva is going to skip the shopping and head for the slopes! If my area isn't open, I'm going to get in the car and go somewhere that is open ;)

I think I'll go up to Breckenridge and have a lesson on thanksgiving. I don't have plans for thanksgiving dinner so it'll be a good distraction ! Besides, I'm dying to try out my new skis which replaced my volkls, and are freshly waxed by me waiting to go out and play.
Friday, saturday and sunday might include skiing too, especially if we get any new snow!

I skied Breck on Tuesday and Copper yesterday. Breck was ok, even though it was very warm at the base it ended up windy and cold at the top.

Copper was awesome, they opened the Timberline chair and we had a blast. Compared to my other days of skiing it seemed like things started clicking again. I skied my first bump run of the season but it did me in, I had to make the run after that my last.

Today we did a 20 mile bicycle ride to Red Rocks, from our house. It was a beautiful day. We were all feeling very smug, tourists drive their cars to visit Red Rocks, we ride our bikes.

Trouble, did you just sell a pair of Volkl Attiva 5 Stars on Ebay last week?

I skied Breck thursday (Tryptophan-day!) and friday on my new groomer skis, Head Monster iM72. They were a lot of fun, especially after being on heavier k2 Recons with lesser edging ability! Breck was pretty empty on thanksgiving, and got windy toward the end of the day to the point of blowing any loose fluff off the top of the hill. Friday was very crowded, with 20-30 minute lift lines at the base, but I took a ski school class and cut in front of everyone ;)
Breck needs snow. They're advertising that peak 8 and imperial are open but there is very little cover. There was little to no snow in the trees so tree runs are a ways off. Even with a big dump it'll need some pack-down before venturing into it.

Why yes I did. Do I know you ? ;)
The sale of the volkls financed the purchase of my 9-cm longer Head skis.

If you sold your skis to a in couple in Cincinnati then, yes, we spoke over the phone in the Tajmahal parking lot and you met my partner Dale. The skis are in my basement, waiting to be picked up in Jan.
