When it's time to upgrade your equipment, who pulls the trigger?
Do you demo?
Do you rely on help from outsiders for ski information?
Does someone in your close circle make your purchase?
How does the SkiDiva, know what ski she should be on this season?

I do all three -- read reviews, demo (this is the part I like the best), and talk to as many people as possible. I need all the help I can get.

I'd have to agree with the Diva herself, I too do all 3. The ski companies are making it easier though. I haven't tried a pair of high end skis that I haven't liked. The main diffrence is in the flex...and of course length. For myself it all depends on the snow conditions and how I'm feeling on certain days.

I demo, but I'm such an easy mark—and so excitable—that I always buy the first pair I try.

I read the ski mag reviews, but take that with a grain of salt. Demo its the only way to do it. I would never have tried the Siam 10's from Salomon. Kelly made me do them. Really neat all mountain ski. But I like carvers, so I'm sticking with my Z-5's

Ask Phil.
Lil,
I must admit, Phil(or is it philomena?) has had some influence on a few of my recent gear purchases.

But overall, I must say, I do the research, demo skis and know exactly what I want.
Sometimes a Gear Geek, like Phil influences me and I'm duelly impressed with the performance.
