Ski Diva Extraordinaire
Since I only learned to ski last year this was my first ski vacation.
I've been a huge ski racing fan for years--that's what finally inspired me to learn--so we timed the visit so that we could see the men's and women's World Cup races on the new Olympic courses. It was a fantastic trip--not only did I get to ski under blue skies (that almost never happens here in the PNW), but I got to see the racers that I've watched on tv for years. If anyone is at all of fan of the sport I'd highly recommend timing a ski trip to coincide with some races (they come to Lake Louise and Beaver Creek every year). It's just fantastic to be there with other fans. My big triumph of the trip was making it down Franz's Run (which for me, is pretty bumpy and steep) without falling to watch the women's downhill from a viewing area. Another highlight was the Burnt Stew trail, a long green run that starts all the way up on top of the mountain. It was truly a treat to be in such an alpine zone on a green trail--Whistler's blues are still a bit of work for me, but the greens are just fun. There was no new snow, and it was a little crunchy at times, but I'll take that anyday over mashed potatoes. Here's a few pictures:

Near the Harmony Tea House with my husband (how cool is that, that there's an actual tea house on top):
