Which ski...Vapor, Breeze, Exclusive legend...????

Hello to all..
I am new here...
The hubby directed me to here from the EPIC forum...
He said its time to upgrade the skis...:becky:
My stats...5'2"...100lbs....38yrs...lvl 7...been skiing 25+ yrs with a large 10 year break...
Current ski is Salomon Siam 4 145cm...I like it, but feel that I have passed this ski...it does not wow me anymore...
DH agrees and after much research(he is a huge equipment junkie)..suggested the skis mentioned above...

Ski exclusively in Colorado, Loveland, Copper mt, Vail every now and then...
Ski with family and DH...
Ski fairly fast, in other words when skiing with the DH, we pass 75% of the other skiers...
I like to ski all areas of the mountain...green/blue with the kids, blue and black with the DH...challenge myself to a couple of blue/black mogul runs each time...
The DH had me try a Salomon thruster, hated it, no fun at all...
I know everyone will say demo, but demo skis for woman are hard to find in the size I need or want...
DH says that i have a very classy style of skiing, skis close together, and if it s not broke don't fix it...he says he has to stomp the gas pedal real hard to beat me down the mtn...
Looking for that all mtn ski that can do the groomers, moguls, and go into the fresh stuff when its boot top deep...and the trees off the runs...
Not too demanding huh...
Great website...

Thank You

Jennifer

On the Fischer's - I think Vapor over the Breeze for the all mountain and level 7. You are going to find either of these stiffer than the Siam 4's. Keeping with the Salomon's the Origin might be a choice too. It's almost last years Siam 10. No up on Dynastar's, you'll have to wait till MSL gets home from skiing.

Thanks for the reply.....

Who is MSL...?

They sound as if they are the knowledgeable skier on the Dynastars...

Shucks folks, I'm speechless...
Hi, jcp, we abbreviate around here, that's why I'm MSL. I'm a big, giant Dynastar fan, have had at least one pair in the quiver for the last 23 years ( ), and the Exclusive Legend has worked its way to classic status. This is a light ski for a light skier, which you are, based on your weight (I've got 25# on you, and 4"). Legends are one of the more versatile skis out there in being able, as you said, to "do it all." Wish you could demo, because it's important to see if you can hit the ski's speed limit. Which some have said they have, so length is a factor. I couldn't find it in a 160 I recently demo'd (or was it 158? close enough?). Extremely versatile ski, with a little more "bounce" and less heaviness than, say, the k2 Lotta Luv, or what I have read about the Vision and Breeze - and have not demo'd, so can't comment.

While it does have a versatile 75mm waist and probably could do 6-8" powder, I think it would not perform well in anything deeper and/or heavy. It's a light ski, both in weight and feel (which is how I felt it differed from the K2).

The E Legend has done so well for Dynastar that it has gone largely unchanged since its inception about 4 seasons ago (except minor stuff like graphics, and the '08 graphics are gorgeous).

I think, given your size, you'd appreciate this lighter weight ski both under foot (boot?) and over-shoulder. FWIW, I consider myself a Level 7 also, and I enjoyed the 158 (or was it 160??). Trying to justify this purchase and watching the sales!!

Good luck in your decision - these are all stellar skis with decidedly different feels. I love the E Legend.

I haven't been on the Breeze, but the Vapor flat out rocked. I felt that the underfoot width was good for a nice variety of conditions, and it was light, quick, and nimble. It didn't have any complaints about me pushing it hard and fast, and while it was definitely stable, it was also really surprisingly light, even with demo bindings. I loved the Vapors, and would definitely recommend you take them out for a spin.

Thanks for the reply...
I am going to get a chance to demo a pair of the Dynastars at the 152cm length...
I finally found a rental shop that has them...
That length, based on your info should be spot on...
I like the light and nimble skis...heavy skis are not for me...
Dynastar is in the family, the DH has a pair of Contact Ltd...
No one has any Fishers to demo, they have already sold all of the Fisher demo's...

Thanks

Other skis that "ski heavier:" Atomic, Elan, most K2. This is a purely subjective impression, not a criticism of any of the above by a long-shot. Just a feel. Sometimes heavy is good. What I totally liked about the E Legend was its performance at a wide range of speeds, which some of the others did not. Maybe you'll get a chance to ski something else, just for the sake of comparison. Good luck, hope it all works out for you!

Welcome to the forum JCPacher!

You'll love it here!!

As for the skis, I can't help ya' here. I'm a K2 girl! :becky:

Was way fun last month to demo the K2 and Dyna back to back, doing the identical line on a practically empty slope (under the lights, no less!) in a variety of conditions ranging from skied off hardpack to untracked 4" - and as I said in my review, if someone had asked me afterward to "choose one," I'd have broken out in a sweat. And probably would have chosen the K2's, as I've got 2 other pairs of Dynastars in the quiver. It was just beyond interesting to do this, and I'm putting Demo Days on my calendar for early next season, no matter what ("what" usually meaning long lines and crowds elsewhere).

I wont ignore the K2's...
I went to the ski shop last night and put a pair of the Dynastar's on end...
That length of 152 concerns me...
My current skis are 145..the 152's look huge...
DH started looking up some other skis...came up with K2 One Luv...they make it in a 146...
Might have to try to find a demo for that one...

Ah! Now you're speaking my language! :yahoo:
I'm a One Luv JUNKIE!!!

What can you tell me about the One Luv's...

How do they do in moguls...

Just an fyi...one of my favorite runs at Vail is Riva ridge top to bottom...

That is the kind runs I like to ski...

Thanks

Jennifer

Ah! Riva! Love it!

I like my One Luvs in the Moguls. I don't really ski moguls that much any longer, and my skis are 167, so a shorter ski would be better for that. IMHO...

I think if you are skiing in Colorado type of snow, you would love the One Luv. But....that's just me.

Apparently other ski lines are doing wonderful things with women's skis. Watch for other posts!
