Question: Which race ski for me?

I'm interested in buying a new pair of slalom race skis for club racing and recreational skiing in the Midwest, but there are no demos available where I live. Last year I bought the Fischer RC4 Race SC , which I have been very dissapointed in! I made my decision based on the website info which was very misleading. It lacks edge hold and feels more like a recreational ski. Since the purchase I have found out it is the same ski as their recreational RX Fire 8, with a race paint job. This year they have updated the RC4 Race SC by adding vertical sidewalls and 2 layers of titanal, so I'm guessing it is more what I'm looking for. I'm trying to decide between the 09 Fischer RC4 Race SC Pro and the 08 Atomic ST12. Is there anyone out there who has skied on either who can tell me what they think?
Thanks!

I haven't skied the slalom versions of either, but I have skied the GS racestock versions.....

The Fischer was scary demanding and exacting; the Dynastar was super quick, turny, and light for a GS ski and the Rossignol was floppy, noodly, and dead. The 2 fastest in the race course for me were the Atomic and the Volkl, with the Volkl being more tolerant of mistakes and just "easier" to ski.

I don't know how that translates to the SL versions, but I :love: the Volkl P60 SL racestock, for both racing and freeskiing. It's quick and zippy yet stable at speed. I also tried SnowHot's Blizzard SL racestock and found them just as stable and quick without the zippy pop of the Volkl.

I don't know where you are in the midwest, but Nub's Nob in Petoskey MI has race skis available for demo (the GS versions for sure, and maybe the SLs too).
