Where to Demo Skis? Where to Find Bootfitter?

Hi Divas  First off-thanks to all of you who contributed to my last thread about ski equipment--it was very much appreciated.

I very much so would like to buy new boots and find a boot fitter.

Does anyone here know where I can go in New York?
Either in Queens, Long Island, or Manhattan?
(I'm in Queens). Are there any reputable shops you trust?

As far as demoing skis -- what are my options?

I ski regularly weekends in PA. Will be at Blue Mountain
this weekend...

I also try to take trips to VT as much as I can--and will be
either at Stratton, Bromley, or Okemo Feb 8-10th.

I'd like to try as many skis as possible before I make a decision on
what to buy.

Thanks for your help again!

We found that demoing at the mountain works well because often they'll let you swap the skis for one amount, then apply the demo fee to a purchase. If you do it off mountain you usually have to use the same pair all day.

If you are skiing those other mountains, you might want to consider going to Mount Snow for a day.

I posted before, Mount Snow is having a 20% off skis and boots and some clothing, which is a good deal, esp. because the demo fee is also applicable. They let you accumulate 3 demo-day fees over an extended period to apply toward a purchase (anyone in the family's fee can apply toward the person's who is buying). The price can come close to what you'd pay online, and is very convenient.

I don't know what the other mountains there are offering!

I am from Long Island, and don't know of any good boot fitters around here. If you are going to Okemo, there is a really good boot fitter at Northern Ski Works. I am really bad with names, but will get his name from SO if you would like it.

The name you want at Northern is Shon. Mentioned in Ski magazine as the best bootfitter in New England. AND HE IS!
