The forum is usually quieter on weekends than it is on weekdays. So I was wondering -- when does a Diva ski? Weekends? Weekdays? Nights? Holidays? Some combo thereof?

I ski weekdays, work in a ski shop weekends. What about you?

I ski weekends plus a night or two during the week. Week days when we get a buncha snow!:snow:

I ski whenever I can. Tremblant is a lot of weekends and holiday periods, but I try to fit in long weekends so I get some the calmer weekdays. I teach nights at home on our small bump.

Working full time in the city and being a minimum of 2 hours away from ski hills (and not very good ones) makes it tough. I try to get 2 ski trips in a year - one during the Christmas/New Years break and one in February. Then I supplement that with day trips on Saturdays or Sundays.

I also do a lot of "mental" skiing - i.e. I sit at my desk and think about it. That helps! :eyebrows:

Oh yeah, and I keep my new ski boots by my bed.....is that wrong?!?

That in itself could be the start of a funny thread !!! Where do divas keep their ski boots. When not skiing, where & when do divas wear their boots ? :laughter:

Weekends

Unfortunately, work schedules for me and my SO generally limit our skiing to weekends; usually an early Sunday morning 1.5 hour drive out to the Poconos where we do a morning half-day series of as many up & down runs as possible before the crowds & busses arrive and/or things start to get skied off. Then we keep each other awake during the drive home where we hit the shower and collapse :faint: until later, when we need food.

Sometimes we're lucky enough to be able to run up to the Catskills in NY for a weekend and stay with friends who live there; we usually ski Belleayre with them. We've also done an overnight to ski Butternut (MA) for a day.

We manage one big ski trip West per year and have always gone to Steamboat, CO. This year we booked in August to get 25% off lifts & lodging and can hardly wait for our 10-day trip in February 2008. :yahoo: We try to go around their Winter Carnival time and really love it there. Steamboat is a town with a mountain, not a mountain with a town - if you know what I mean.

Last year I only skied mid-week or when the school ski-club sold basement price packages for holiday blackout periods.

This year it will again be mid-week but adding on Sundays & a few Saturdays. My kid's pass has no blackout dates, but mine does. Discrimination against grown ups ? Oh yea, forgot, we have bigger wallets.

Night skiing is not an option. Only a couple of mountains have it, but on the harder side of the lake to get to for me. And at this point we don't need it.

For those of us who live near (but not at the bottom) of mountains, it's a given it'll be "a combination of the above".

Weekends, whenever there's snow. Plus a trip or two to the "better" mountains west or east.

I tried NOT to ski between X'mas and New Year. And even for President's Day weekend, I x-c ski instead (if there's snow). The crowds really gets to me. Not that it's exactly "quiet" during mid-season weekends. But the extra crowd and the frantic nature of holiday period simply pushes me over the edge.

Never thought of night skiing since my one and only try of it was un-pleasant (can't see too well, my eyes are bad).

I ski mostly weekends but I do use the majority of my vacation days to ski weekdays when through out the season.

Before the season started I wore my boots around the house when I got home from work to rebreak them in.

..and I voted for Combo because I ski Tuesdays & Wednesdays day & night. Night skiing is my favourite. I only ski weekends while on vacation as I work weekend overnights (like now)

I ski most weekend, and then take off work and ski a few workdays and then all holidays.

Most weekend morning I ski first chair to last chair, although sometimes I just need to sleep in an extra hour or two over one weekend day so I just ski the afternoon. (lazy, lazy, I know)

We race at one resort on Wednesday nights, race at another resort Thursday nights, and ski Friday and sometimes Monday nights and all day Saturday and Sunday. Already have 4 days (23 hours) in this year :D

This season:

1 weekday each week at Stratton or Okemo.

1 weekend day (2 if conditions rock) at my local hill (Berkshire East) with my kids.

Several days over December and February school breaks at Berkshire East with my kids.

Night skiing on occasion at Berkshire East if I like it (haven't tried it as I've never had a season pass before)

ESA Stowe and an extra day next week :yahoo:

4 days at Big Sky in February :yahoo:

Possibly 2 days at Smuggler's Notch in late March when my stepkids are on school break :yahoo:

Aaah, life is good!

I was thinking about this---I use my pass for 100 plus days per year, but since I teach most of those days, how many days do I just ski?

Probably only one day per week. The rest of the time, I am on skis and do get an early morning run and a late run or two. On Thursdays and Fridays, we train from 3:30 to 5 pm. But, I was a little jealous of folks who just ski all day doing whatever they want to do!!

I'm a weekday skier, having retired from the 9-5 world, but I can occasionally be coaxed out on a Sunday if we have company or are meeting a friend. Saturdays, jamais---too much collision history.

Whenever I get a chance, weekday and weekend. We often do ski weekends and holidays, but, when we do, we get out early and quit around noon. Crowds aren't bad early and then we have the afternoon to do other things.

Since I only work weekends, I'm fortunate to ski only Mon-Thurs. I usually ski twice a week. This schedule also works out well during tyhe off months for hiking & camping. Minimal crowds!!!

Weekends and holidays usually.
Night skiing is practically non-existent out here, so with a 9-5 job that rules out weekdays unless I take the day off.
