I was wondering, when do my fellow divas find time to exercise or go to the gym? Do you get up early and exercise before you start your day? Do you try to sneak in a workout at lunch? Or do you wait until the evening to head off to the gym?

These days we are all so busy with many activities and some of them (such as posting on the SkiDivas forum) are very sedentary. So when do you exercise?

Any tips, advice, lessons learned would be appreciated by this Certified Ski Diva - and maybe some others. ;)

Waiting to hear from you,
Lola

Well I exercise sometimes twice a day. I walk in the mornings before breaky and go to Curves 3 days a week after work. Curves is great strength training, but not enough cardio for skiing. Also one of the instructors at Curves and I go inline skating once a week. Sometimes I inline skate with my skiing guy buddies after supper. No kids can you tell!!

I don't have 9-5 hours, so have some days where I am completely free. I like to sleep til 8-9 if I don't have work, so get up, have coffee, do Times crossword, then consider whether its a run or bike day. That same day I may do yoga in the late afternoon. Sounds luxurious doesn't it? Except sometimes I am up for 25-36 hours at a time in my profession.

I power walk 4-5 miles most every morning. I lift weights at the gym 3 x per week. I work two days/week, so on those days I just walk. Since schools started I am having to walk on my working days when I get home in the afternoon. Sometimes in the winter I wait until midday to walk if it is especially cold.

I try to make my workout one of my priorities just like brushing my teeth. Sometimes I don't want to work out but I find that if I can just start the rest seems easy. Many people put excersise on the back burner. I think it should be done on a daily basis.Finding an hour should not be that hard!!

Soem people take better care of their cars than they do their bodies!!

If I can get up and get at it at 4:30-5 AM, I feel a lot better the rest of the day.
If I put it off til later in the day, it doesn't happen.

If I don't put my gym clothes on first thing in the morning to get myself "prepared" and then leave as soon as the kids are off to school, I will end up sitting at my laptop surfing the web and posting here. :o

I'd love to try one of those Skier's Edge machines. They look really cool. And the idea of using it with the ski movie is terrific!

I work out late afternoon/before dinner. I work from my house, and going out to the gym puts the cap on my day. Plus I can use it after I've been at my desk all day. Gets me moving.

So would I! They are so incredibly expensive, though. I've been scouring ebay trying to find a deal. I wish the gym would get one so I could try it before plunking down that chunk of change.

Ahem . . . (clearing the throat)

Since when does Lola have a Skier's Edge machine???

Um, I hate to break this to you, but there are rumors that such a machine has moved into the garage which is attached to my house. But, since the aforementioned garage is 'off limits' to me . . . I am not so sure that there actually is one on said premesis. You know, there is a toll plaza in front of the garage, and people who are not named 'Phil' have to pay an entrance fee of $5.00 dollars to obtain access to the garage. So, I don't go in there much. It's too expensive and causes too much grief.

However, if you happen to be a young man (let's say named Tyler, who is 17), you can come into the gargage any time you want - as long as your sole purpose is to engage the lawn mower located in the aforementioned garage into active duty within 60 feet of the garage on said premesis.

Have I made myself perfectly clear? Or is this clear as mud?

Bottom line - I'm not allowed to play on the Skier's Edge. :(

I heard a rumor that a certain person just purchased a skiers edge.
The said purchaser of such a machine, suggested that someone he loved dearly had been through a significant knee injury a few months back and may benefit from using "said skiers edge" as preparation for the impending ski season.

Ah, yes, I have heard of this ploy - it is called the classic "bait and switch" routine.

AKA - Use your wife as bait to get what you want.

Ironically, Phil learned this trick from my father. You see, the Labor Day weekend before I met Phil, I went on a sailing trip with my parents (Lil and Jim) via the Anapolis Sailing School. My Dad (Jim) thought it would be great for the three of us to get matching T-shirts . . .

His said 'Captain'. Lil's said 'First Mate'. Mine said 'Shark Bait'

Again, the classic 'bait and switch' routine . .
And my Dad said he loved me dearly too . . .

Hmm . . .

Just goes to show you . . .
Dad's use their daugthers to get what they want, so why shouldn't husbands use their wives???

P.S. Just kidding! (notice my tongue in my cheek). It appears that I have offended some of those persons who testosterone level are a bit volatile this time of the month. Sorry guys. Do you think you can forgive me? Pretty please?? :D

Did you notice my 'sarcastic smiley'

My husband has a 4WD Quad, and a Fat wheel motorcycle, that he bought for me, too. Wanna guess how often I ride them?

I exercise before breakfast. I am lucky enough to be able to go to my basement to workout. I vary the workouts for cardio and flexibility. I probably don't do enough strength work. But with a Bosu for balance work, I feel more ready than ever. Did anyone see the exercise test in Ski magazine for readiness to Ski?? Clearly need more work or I have to realize that the test is for much younger people!
