When DID you start skiing this season?

Not when you THINK you'll start. But the date you actually skied!

Now that there's snow everywhere and resorts are actually openning! It's time to stop thinking and start skiing!

Me? I'm not skiing till at least December, if even then.

But let the first flakers gloat!

I wish...

I won't usually go unless there's a good base (30"+) so I don't rock my skis. That means I don't usually start opening week. :(

Veteran's Day at Copper Mt.
One white ribbon of death.
Everyone seemed pretty careful, but we quit by lunch time as it got scraped off.
a good day.

I skied 5 straight days Nov. 7 thru 11. Coverage was actually pretty decent....there was a passable ski dump and a lot of snowmaking aided by low temps. But since about the 14th, the weather has warmed up a LOT and the snow on our local hill is melting fast. So no more skiing until a couple of big storms come in and the weather really shifts into winter mode again. :(

If there's snow "everywhere," then southwestern Idaho is nowhere. We haven't got even one flake anywhere near me!

(every flake we've gotten has died of heat exposure)

October 29th, Arapahoe Basin. Blue skies, temps in the 50s. WROD soft, well covered and no ice!

October 19th, A-Basin. I've skied 3 times since but will be taking this weekend off to wait for more terrain. I don't want to die on the WROD.

Marquette Mountain

Marquette Mountain opened yesterday but I thought I would wait since there was only one run open & I thought it would be full of death cookies & boarders. I heard it was really good so I headed out today and took about 6 runs, it was really good. We have the most Nov snowfall on record for the month of Nov this year, it's going to be an epic year. I think we got 4' in some places so far this month, I think the hill only got about 1 1/2' though.

Hi all. I'm brand new to the forum and loving it. I live in the Laurentians in Quebec and was out last Sunday (Nov. 23) at a small local hill, making sure my new boots (which I had bought there) were good (they seem to be) and demoing a couple of skis. But my real season started Monday when I went to Tremblant - just 13 runs open but great conditions. I'll be there again tomorrow and the dump of snow we got yesterday won't hurt at all!

SkiBam - wasn't Tremblant in great shape. We skied top to bottom late Saturday. Check my avitar and maybe I'll see this weekend and through the season. Going up Saturday to ski the week and CSIA convention.

It's snowing tonight, temps are cold enough for snowmaking again, so I'm hoping to get back up on the hill Friday. Yaay! :D

I envy Jilly for being able to head to Tremblant for the weekend and next week. I was there yesterday and conditions were fabulous - if you ignore the fact that visibility at the top was zero. But we've had over 40 cm of snow this week in the Laurentians and I'm sure Tremblant will be opening more runs every day. I'm going to visit the grandkiddies for a few days so can't get on the slopes again until the middle of next week.
