What's your go-to jacket?

We've had this thread going on about the jacket habit that some of our members have (you know who your are :D).

So tell us, jacket sluts -- among allllllllllllllll the jackets you have and hold dear, is there one that's your go-to jacket? The one you generally reach for when you go off to ski? The one that you mean when you say to people, "Look for me in the (insert color here) jacket?"

Come on -- which one is your fav?

Monday thru Thursday it's red with a big white cross on the back, and it's not very femine but I have lots of functional pockets! Lol!

cant go wrong in Colorado with some type of waterproof down...mine is an orage and it keeps me toasty on cold days but not too hot on normal days, i dont know how I survived Colorado winters without it!

If I'm teaching its Red. But I hear that this year the local bump is going Grey with Orange (blech!). The only other ski jacket is the brown Rossi in my avitar. But I own lots of other coats!!

Before that my fav was my SOS jacket, which I still happily wear from time to time.

The one I wore most last year was my Marmot Storn Queen. Soft shell w/ gore, pit zips, lots of pockets, removable hood, powder skirt.

This year though....we'll see!

Powder skirt, never heard this expression, but love it :D. We call it powder cuff, or is this something different? If not most of my male companions in the snow are wearing skirts, and they don't know

Yeah, powder skirt is the typical reference.
DNA Tallulah, have 2 in 2 different colors (actively sought #2 after #1 turned out to be DaBomb). Thanks to bklyn last year, same brand, slightly different model, fabulous. All set. Soft shells are spring wear up here (mid-March - late April). Need insulated most of the season, with integrated hoods. Chairlift rides can be brutal.

Shnu, if you look at most of the gear websites for North America you'll see that they all refer to powder skirts. I've spent a bunch of time on The North Face of late and know for sure they do.

I spend most of my season in my coaching jacket it seems like mainly because while I like my DNA jacket it's just not warm enough for me. I think my body is changing and I'm having more heat control issues these days so I want something with a bit of insulation but plenty of ventilation to help when I get warm. So, hopefully soon I'll be showing off a new go to jacket.

Mine's a Mountain Hardware Steep jacket:

This picture shows it with the hood, but I wear mine without. I like it because it's warm, lightweight, and waterproof.

Just seems random to me, the collar is always something I look at when deciding on a jacket which they've totally hidden. They need a new marketing person me thinks.

Here is my one and only, I don't love the color, but I do like the old powderhorn era reminiscent styling. It's my first insulated jacket since Jr. High. It's great on area or for lighter pursuits, but beyond that it's too warm. I have an older Figure 4 that I wear when it's warmer, but I doubt I can find a pic of it anywhere anymore.

Same here, one ski jacket a marmot (looks a bit like a headwall it's a couple of years old), but don't ask me about casual jackets - got lots of those.

An aside; I got really excited when I looked in this thread tonight because the google ad at the top of the page was for a local (Wellington, New Zealand) boys clothing manufacturer that designs and makes fantastic boys clothes. I'm hoping that they continue to grow because as a mum of a boy I am so excited that someone actually makes funky clothes only for boys, not as an aside to a girls range.

Sorry about that, back to the jacket topic - love my marmot. I tend to keep my jackets for ages, so am feeling pretty stylish it the new (had it for two seasons now) jacket and pants at the moment.
