What's the most unusual thing in your pocket?

As we've moved on to "what'ss it got in it'ss pocketses?"

What is the most useful thing you carry in your pocket (excluding lift pass and money), and what's the most unusual thing you have carried in your pocket?

Hmmm, I don't consider anything I carry to be unusual, but someone else might:
chapstick
sunscreen
money
debit card
insurance card
driver's license
car keys w/ whistle attached
camera
eye drops
protein bar
cell phone

And depending on the day: video camera
GPS

TheSkiDiva.com stickers and/or business cards.

But I guess, for me, that's not unusual!

Well to anybody but my fellow ski instructors a notepad, pencil and my readers might seem odd.

SkiNurse - eye drops seem a little odd, but if you have dry eye - I guess not.

I really don't carry much when I ski. ID, credit card, a little cash, chapstick, tissues, cell phone, and sometimes camera. On occasion, the free granola bars they give out at the ticket windows!

I have eye drops with me as well. The only things I carry that aren't listed here are cough drops, this winter my inhaler, plus when I'm coaching a radio along with spare handwarmers and gaiters (thank goodness for our lumbar pockets on our coats).

On piste, free skiing, I carry Dermatone, cash, a credit card, and a phone. When working, I carry that stuff plus: a radio in its sling, with a card with emergency phone number and radio call numers; an old credit card (to scrape snow off rental skis); a bit of hard wax (to rub on rental skis); gloves for those bloodborne pathogens; a tiny pencil; a tiny pad; handwarmers; the lesson card (with everyone's names on it); the kids' clinic tickets; and candy for after the lesson! Off piste, the backback has all sorts of stuff -- matches; candle; first aid kit; pipe fasteners; safety pins; rubber bands; a shiny bivy; a shovel; a probe; duct tape; jerky, gorp, and protein bars; a camelback bladder; a thermos of hot stuff; a bandana; extra socks; my "puffy jacket" for when we stop; and extra layers. I wear the beacon and take all the crap out of my pockets and put them in the pack.

Very dry eyes!
I had dry eyes before my Lasik surgery, and since then it has been worse. I use Restasis (prescription eye drops) twice a day. And then with skiing (with the "dry" Colorado winters), I have to make sure I put in regular eye drops during the day OR I won't be able to see to drive home!

My eyes aren't *as* dry if I'm wearing goggles, worse if wearing sunglasses. Either way, I no longer take a chance.

A pair of spare contact lens.

They got into the pocket when I used the jacket for fall backpacking. And since the jacket have quite many pockets, I didn't search too thoroughly. After all, what was good enough for a backpacking trip can't be all that harmful for a skiing day... ;-)

Eye drops? I don't leave home without it.

So far the most unexpected pocket stash is cheese and almonds...
With a nice chianti Atlantiqueen?

SkiNurse - they put in punctal plugs for me just before Lasik and I have to say I'm not really experiencing extreme dry eyes - have you looked at that option?

I'm also amazed at how much you all can get in your pockets. BackCountryGirl is leading the pack on that one, I don't know how you move!

Yeah, they tried. My tear drain holes are too little...even with the smallest plugs.

They're big pockets. I move okay; I just look really chunky.

I've been racking my brain to think if there is something unusual in my pocket, but I just can't think of anything that isn't normal, with the exception of AAA batteries, just in case my turbo fan batteries go dead in an inopportune moment.

My normal Pocket stash:
Cell phone
camera
small nail file
Pocket tool
car key
lip balm
pocket wax packet
advil/tylenol
Zip Lock with an small assortment of bandaids
peanut butter granola bar
Sunscreen(when in Colorado)
SkiDiva Stickers

*Mr SnowHot always has a stash of snickers snackers in his pocket.

Nothing too weird in mine (although I remember one season many years ago when I had to stuff a spare Pampers somewhere, ha)--but---slightly OT, sorry --- I am beyond fond of season pass pockets. SOOOOO much nicer than having it hanging somewhere. (And how many have I plucked out of the snow and turned in over the years?? :noidea: Lots.) So, for me, this is Major Jacket Requirement. However, word on the street (apparently official) is that the 2 resorts I frequent are resuming pass scanning this season :mad2: -- which means, if as 2 years ago, that the scanner will not pick up my bar code through the clear vinyl of the pass pocket :mad2: and I will have to wear it flapping about on a ring through a zipper somewhere again. Can't cut away the clear vinyl (although might try/sacrifice one) as that defeats the protective purpose. Dang. Was so nice last year to just flip it down from powder skirt vicinity, then tuck it back up. <sigh>

Low blood sugar and angry, angry girl if I don't get regular protein - so, cheese and almonds, the keys to a happy marriage

I think cheese and almonds are an excellent idea. I don't much like energy bars so I end up with Chocolate as my emergency stash, but I think I'll try cheese and almonds instead.

SnowHot glad to see you too have a nail file, I hate snaggy nails that catch on your clothing and of course skiing is the worst hazard zone. I make sure it's one of the soft rounded ones, I'd hate to have a stab wound from a bad fall!

MSL I too love those little windows. This year the epic pass is to be radio frequency, I don't know yet what that will entail, I've only used them before at turnstiles and it's been a pain if you have a pass around your neck to bend down to swipe at waist level. Then the windows at waist level were truly the answer (or the plastic pouches on elastic which were way less cool). As I plan to wear my pass around my neck under my jacket I have visions of a young man having to scan my whole chest area. I don't suppose I'd mind, as long as he's quick.

btw - I was reminded of your very funny dead mouse story, that's got to be the most unusual thing found in skiwear! lol!

I keep my season pass attached to the "key clip" in my pocket. I take it out when I need to, they scan, then zip it back in. Tremblant only scans at bottom lifts, so if you stay on top or the edge, you don't need to keep the card out. Keeps the card neat and clean. If it warm I'll sometimes use a lanyard. But at minus 20 C I don't want to unzip my jacket!

Nothing too odd. I don't think. . . I sometimes ski with a backpack, if the weather's going to be changeable. If it's going to be nice, then it's a bunch of stuff in various pockets.

My hiking/outdoor sports *wallet.* Which is to say, my DL, one credit card, and some cash, wrapped up with a hair band, stuck in a plastic bag with four quarters, just in case!

Cell phone
Chemical heat packs, if it's cold
Tinted lip balm
Little *hockey puck* of Dermatone
Dry pair of socks
Possibly camera, but I usually make DH carry it
Sunglasses, if I am wearing goggles
And eye drops. ALWAYS eye drops with contacts.

I keep very little in my pockets - like to be as sleek as possible. :becky: Then again, at a 625ft vert mtn, it's not necessary either. I usually have my cell phone, car key, drivers license, and credit card.

I did like wearing the hydration pack at A-basin though. Could carry so much more with minimal impact on the feel on my body. I hate weighing down my pockets.
